  1. Well there is the question I have. Is this at all possible: To delete partitions and then re-format a harddisk. Is it possible in Unraid with the help of Unmenu or someother utility. And with the choice of different filesystems (ext2, ext3, NTFS, FAT32). I stumbled on this after adding 2 drives that I took from a CH3SNAS to my ESATA tower and which I tried to mount and share on the network with SNAP. These drives seem to have 3 partitions: swap, part2(ext2) and part4(ext2) as recognized in Disk Management in Unmenu. I managed to mount and share the ext2 partition on which the data is that I want to keep through Unmenu. I use Unraid 4.7. Further help and advice is greatly appreciated. Should I just use fdisk? Can anyone help?
  2. Thanks all you three. After reading the manual Joe L. pointed me to, I for now agree with ohlwiler and set the split-level to 2. Sorry dgaschk . All agree? I still find it a bit confusing though . Hope I make right decision.
  3. Hi everyone, I have a share named Movies which uses disk3, disk4 and disk5. The structure on this share is as follows: Movies (Level 0) | DVD (Level 1) (Directory, will be on disk 3, 4 or 5) | | | DVD-Title (level 2)(Directory, can be on disk 3, 4 or 5) | | | VIDEO_TS (Level 3) (Directory on DVD, must remain on disk where DVD-Title resides) | | |______Files on DVD | | | AUDIO_TS (Level 3) (Directory on DVD, must remain on disk where DVD-Title resides) | |______Files on DVD | MKV | MKV-Title MKV-file My question is: How should I set the split-level so that the directories and files on a DVD-title stay grouped together on the same disk (3,4 or 5), should it be 2,3 or 4? Also are the levels I wrote down in the comments correct?
  4. I have a problem when stopping the array. One of the disks keeps "unmounting" in disk status when all the others are already unmounted. So at the moment I cant stop the array. The only way out is shutting down and then reboot. Anyone got a clue what is wrong?
  5. Movies2 didn't exist on any disk. When I copied a small jpg file to the share it appeared on disk5 but when I copied 3 DVD-rips to the share they appeared on disk2. What will be the best and fastest way to move files inside the array to the above mentioned user share obeying to the rules set up as above. So that the files will be written, equally divided, on disk4 and disk5. Can this be done with Midnight Commander?
  6. Hi everyone, I currently use Unraid 4.7. After adding some harddisks to my array I decided to create a user-share called Movies2. I used the following settings: Allocation method: Most-free Spli-level: 3 Included disks; disk4,disk5 Excluded disks: disk1,disk2,disk3 Use cache disk: Yes The thing is that Movies2 isn't created on any of the included disks (disk4 or disk5) but on disk2 (one of the excluded disks). Am I doing something wrong (syntax error in included or excluded disks line). Or is my whole interpretation of how this works totally wrong. What will be the best and fastest way to move files inside the array to the above mentioned user share obeying to the rules set up as above. So that the files will be written, equally divided, on disk4 and disk5. Can this be done with Midnight Commander?
  7. @prostuff1: Thank you for the advise. I just wonder: Is the latest version always the best version? Or is there a "tried and tested" one that is advisable to use for Unraid 4.7?
  8. I just finished adding some data disks to my array. The disks are formatted and show up on the Main screen of web-management. Currently my array consists of 2x 1,953,514,552 and 3x 976,762,552 (2x 2TB and 3x 1TB) plus a 2TB parity and a 1TB cache drive. Still the total size as listed on the Main screen is listed as 1,953,514,552 (2 TB) where I would expect 7TB. Am I missing something here? Or is this Total size the size op the parity Disk? I use Unraid 4.7 Plus. Parity check is running at the moment. Can someone please shed some light on this?
  9. I have installed SABNZB through the package manager in unMenu, unfortunately this is version 0.6.7 and I want a newer version. Also I have now a cache-drive installed so I want to re-install SABNZB. Can I uninstall the older version through the package manager and then reinstall it to cache drive? Or is there an easier way?
  10. How can we answer this when we do not know what storage structure you want on the disks??? My main concern is to prevent only one disk filling up. I guess i should configure sabnzb to not to point to disk2/sabnzbd/downloads and to disk2/videos but to the user shares. I have the feeling that split level doesnt work for me. The split level is dependable on the directory depth I think
  11. Hi everyone, I am running Unraid 4.7 in a 3 disk ( 2 data, 1 parity) configuration. My problem is that I see only one disk getting filled with data (mostly downloaded movies like HD videos and BD-rips from SABNZB). These are downloaded in disk2/sabnzbd/downloads and then auto-unrarred in disk2/videos. Allocation method for both directories is high water but what split level should be set for these directories? I think this is the source of my problem. The SABNZB and videos directory show up as User Shares. Included and Excluded disks setting are empty. Disk2 is now 66% filled while Disk1 is still empty. Maybe I am totally wrong and I make a thinking error, this is my first Unraid built.
  12. Thanks for the fast reply. I use Windows 7 Ultimate's built-in NFS client. Should I use a UID and GID of 1000 when i want to change the registry in Windows 7. Is 1000 (decimal) the right value for a Unraid NFS share? Or should I also add (rw,sync,no_subtree_check) to the share on the server? Again, thanks so far.
  13. Hello, I have manged to set-up NFS shares on my Unraid 4.7 server. I used *(rw) on my NFS share. I can mount this share in Windows 7 and I then even see the directories in that share. But when i try to enter a directory I get a "access denied" message. Is there something wrong with the Unraid settings? Or is the client (Windows 7) side at fault? Please help. I am planning to use NFS to stream to my mediaplayers. Properties of the share are: UID=-2, GID=-2 rsize=32768, wsize=32768 mount=soft, timeout=1.6 retry=1, locking=yes fileaccess=755, lang=ANS casesensitive=no sec=sys As listed in Windows.
  14. Hello, I'm Dirk from the Netherlands. I ran into a problem after copying files with Midnight Commander. I copied the files from a Netgear NV+ NAS to Disk1. After copying only the directories can be seen. The files in these directories are hidden. Who can help me?
