    entries in your log ?

    Ok what do they mean??

Also your log is not complete, it creates a new file once the syslog reaches a certain size.

Looking through your syslog I find rows containing

Aug 14 19:35:10 Tower emhttp: get_filesystem_status: statfs: /mnt/user/test Transport endpoint is not connected

Yes, this is when I stopped and rebooted.

after which emhttp decides to stop SMB, but this might be the point where you stopped it...

The ioctl errors were discussed in http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=21201.0 and were plugin/simplefeatures related.

I would suggest you get that problem sorted first...

Ok, I will look into that.  thanks.

  3. Yes, I've installed most of them, except the iTunes ones.  I'm also runing Plex and APC, and that's it.  All of these have been in place since I went to v5.  I've actually had no issues with any of them or my server for that matter.  This is the real first issue I've had.

I hope the log shows something about why the shares would demon would just stop and why the server would think it has no shares anymore, just weird.

  4. >:(

Ok, I've been voting to get this FINAL for a while now because I've had no issues.  That changed today.  My shares dissapeared so I went to my unraid server via web gui and I could see my shares, but my popcorn hour couldn't find the share and my pc also said the share did not exist.  So I decided to pick the movie share and just hit Apply under the section where you select who has access.  This used to be a good trip to get the share stuff going again in the older versions.  This time I got an error saying the share had been deleted!  WTF!  So went back to the share list and they were all gone.  I instantly just stopped the array and did a reboot.  After the reboot all shares were back and everything seems normal.  I have no idea why the server would just stop sharing the shares and why the web gui was reporting no shares exists.  My server had been running a couple days and I've not had this issue since before 4.7 Final and certinaly not with v5.

The good thing is my shares were really not deleted and the reboot fixed it.  the question is WHY....

I hope it helps idenfity what happened.

  5. I am about to upgrade my server to unRAID v5 (latest beta version - RC6).

I have an APC UPS working good with unRAID v4.7 - automatic powerdown.

Is this APCUPSD version working properly?

    - Does it automatically shutdown server upon powerdown?

    - Does it work with SimpleFeatures?

    - Do I have to install anything other than the APCUPSD plugin for automatic shutdown?

Yes, Yes, not related to Simplefeatures, as it's as separate plugin, and for your last question, No.

One question for you - did you bother to read this thread?

  6. Ok final update on this one.  It actually was the data port on the brand new UPS.  Perhaps I accidently pulled on the cable while it was plugged in, although I don't recall doing that.  With all the ups's I've owned, this is a first for me.

In any case I returned the ups for a new one and it works perfect.  Shows I have 40+ min run time.

I'm happy again because I have ups protection.  I do hope the auto shutdown scripts work and I would like to test that.

  7. well this continues to suck ass!  No go, even went back to v5 rc5, same result.  Deleted the APCconfig directory and packages dir and installed fresh, still no luck.  It is like my server doesn't like my USB ports anymore.

    I'm using Apcupsd-3.14.10-i468-2atv.plg

I've attached the syslog with v5 rc6 test.

I did try 3 other USB ports on my server, just incase, no help.

I'm sure this is in the log too, but I see the following error on the screen of my server, "apcupsd: no process..goes off the screen... then under that I see, Error contacting apcupsd @localhost:3551:Connection refused"

UPDATE:  Ok, just tried going back to my old UPS.  I have a APC Backups RS 1000 that is very old, and  after connecting that back up the plugin works perfect!  So, for some reason it's looking to be my brand new APC UPS Backups 600 NS is not happy with Unraid plugin.  That said, I could sware that it worked just fine the first time I plugged it in.  Perhaps the data port on this new UPS is just not good.

Given the old ups works perfect re this plugin, I think we can call the issue my new UPS.  Will report back once I replace the ups again.

  8. Try setting both cable and type to USB, and leave the device field empty, and enable it.

First, thank you for taking the time to respond and help.  :)

I tried that several times, but just for fun I just did it again, here is the syslog lines,

Aug 3 23:35:18 Tower apcupsd[9368]: apcupsd FATAL ERROR in linux-usb.c at line 609 Cannot find UPS device -- For a link to detailed USB trouble shooting information, please see .

Aug 3 23:35:22 Tower kernel: smartctl: sending ioctl 2285 to a partition!

I've now tried two know to be good APC RJ45 to USB cables to my Back-UPS 600 NS, didn't work.

The main part that has me at a loss is when I first connected this new UPS, it was all good.  All I did was power down and relocate my server back into my office, not changing anything.  I figured perhaps I trashed a cable some how but the spare proved that was not it.  I tried different USB ports, no help.  I also tried powering everything back off and unplugging it, then reconnecting everything, same result.  I just don't understand why it worked the first time and now it won't see the UPS.

I will try going back to v5 rc5 tomorrow and see if that does anything.  That is the only change I made, v5 rc6 TEST.  The server is running completely normal otherwise.

    Any other ideas?

  9. ok, the last few lines of the log look like this...

Aug 3 21:45:00 Tower apcupsd[4606]: apcupsd FATAL ERROR in linux-usb.c at line 609 Cannot find UPS device -- For a link to detailed USB trouble shooting information, please see .

Aug 3 21:45:00 Tower apcupsd[4606]: apcupsd error shutdown complete

UPS cable is set to UPS

UPS Type was UPS, and working before....but now it says UNKNOWN.  I try the other options and if I select PCNET, then it shows more details, but I loose the connection after a few mintues.  I think that means it really never connected.  My UPS is a Backups 600 NS, so I tried Network as type, and it shows more details, but says Lost connection agian....wtf

This is driving me crazy because when I first plugged this in, it worked fine.  Now I get the dam UNKNOWN as my status and with no data below, which means the UPS won't send the Shutdown command if power lose.

So if you have a BackUps, what do you set your cable and ups type as?

Just to confirm I haven't mixed up files, I'm using Apcupsd-3.14.3-i486-3dl.plg and put it in my boot/config/plugins dir.

I have an extra APC UPS cable and tried swapping that, no help.

    I'm at a lose here.

  10. Thanks mrow!  That is exactly the info I was looking for.  I'm not sure why this isn't just posted at the top of page 1, as it's not that obvious to newbies.

APC plug is running with v5 rc6 test.

I have not tested a power failure yet, to test the auto shutdown script.  However the APC icon is there and it shows a ton of information about my ups.

I read somewhere not to just pull the power cord to test this, so I need to read more....

Other than testing, everything looks to be working ok.

    Thanks!

Ok guys, this one is weird.  As I had said, new APC UPS.  When I installed this plugin, it showed the process was running, showned it was a APC ups and there was a ton of info at the bottom.  I did not change anything, execpt went to v5 rc6 test.  I just powered off and then powered on, and now it says UNKNOWN next to UPS instead of APC and the info section at the bottm is blank.

Anyone else have this issue with the latest v5 rc6 build?  Perhaps we need an updated plugin?

I'll attach a syslog when I get home tonight.

    Thanks!

  11. sllighly off topic...sorry

I was using only NFS with 4.7, then when I went to v5 I just used the default and only working solution - SMB, at the time.  It seems that all NFS issues are now resolved, but I haven't seen any reason to switch back.  Is there really any advantage of using NFS over SMB anyways?  My pch, mobile, and my win7 pc have no issues with SMB.

  12. Ok, I wasn't sure if this issue was related to the new rc6 release or not.  Which forum should it be in then?

I setup my server back in 2009 and I don't recall ever having to do anything with a key.  That said, your reply makes sense to me.  I just now need to confirm that was the issue.

    Thanks for your reply.

All, just for the record, this was my bad on the new flash drive and had nothing to do with this release.  Tom sent me a new key and all is good again.  Time to swap a very old hard drive today, so hope that goes well.

I've rebooted about 8 times now and went through everything, can't find anything wrong.  I think we are extremely close to calling this FINAL.

    Awesome work guys!

  14. I'm running v5 rc6 test now, no issues with the new build.

I did have a weird thing happen when I tried to use my new flash drive.  Re above, I prepared the flash drive and then copied all the files from my existing flash drive to the new one.  I then replaced the two main files bzroot and  bzimage with the files from v5 rc6 test.  The system booted normally but after the server was running, the ARray was not running and it only saw 2 of my 9 drives.  So I just did a Shutdown, put the old flash drive back in (updated those files with v5 rc6) and it came up fine, Array was running and it sees all drives.  The new flash drive should have worked, unless there is something weird about having a fat32 64gb size drive.  I even made sure that my config files were the ones from my old (working) flash drive.

I'd like to understand why the new flash drive didn't work.

    Syslog attached.

    Thanks!

  15. I don't have the HP Format tool.

Ok, how about FAT32?  I was able to use my imac to format it to fat32.  If that won't work, I'll go find the HP tool.

    Thanks

update:  the make_bootable batch file worked with it being FAT32.  I've copied everything and as soon as my parity check is complete, I'll reboot using this flash and this new release.  Almost there....

  16. Ok, I'm going to move to this version and I would like to use a new flash drive.  I have a Kingston 64 (super crazy read / write speeds) and I thought I would do a mostly fresh installation.  Allow me to define mostly.

I want to use the make_bootable.bat and start with all fresh files from the AiO.  The only thing I want to take with me is the config directory, as it has my share, disk, and other config files.  I'm already running v5 rc5.  I just thought I would interduce a new flash drive for the new release.  My existing flash drive is from 2009 and has been in my unraid server the entire time.

I formatted the flash drive as instructed, leave format as default which is exFAT.  I then copied all the files from the AiO to the flash.  Set volume name to UNRAID.  I go to a Command prompt (yes I ran as Admin).  When I run the batch file, it confirms everything and issues the syslinux.exe command. I then get a error that says...This doesn't look like a Valid FAT file system, then errrors out and ends.  Did I miss something?

ExFAT is not FAT. FAT is required.

Ah, I didn't remember that.  Man, I setup my original flash drive back in 2009 and have drank way too many beers since then...LOL

Ok, so my options in Win7 64bit OS to format this flash drive is exFAT or NTFS.  No FAT option exists.  I was expected to see FAT32 listed as a option at least, wtf.  I guess I will need to find another system that will allow me to format in FAT.

  18. Hi all,

trying to get this plugin to work with v5.  I saw the post here with the updated file, Apcupsd-3.14.3-i486-3dl.txt  so I dl that file and renamed it to Apcupsd-3.14.3-i486-3dl.tgz, then put that file in my "extras" directory on my flash.

Is that all I have to do, or is there more?  Or do you still have to do the command line thing and manually install it?  If the latter, then I would assume we would also need to add this to the Go file so it reloads after reboot?  I just hope its the first, and this is it, auto loads by just dropping it in the extras folder.  :)

    Thanks!
