  1. i do think this would work for a really nice workstation setup yea i'm trying to see if i can get the wife to approve a video production box we could get videos out super quick with this setup Well, well, well... let me help you justify! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811219020&cm_re=norco_470-_-11-219-020-_-Product Pop in a 3x5.25" to 5x3.5" and you have 15 HDD goodness at $90.00 You can win this one, .. "But Honey, if I build this one server I can consolidate two I have into it, we'd end up having more space, and less noise!" Then just kinda forget to ever take the other two offline. Mother of god..... Can anyone tell me if the hard drive cages on the side can be replaced with 5x3's as well? Would be quite perfect, I do believe. So an update: I got my iStar 5in3 HDD cage in today. News is: this case does fit 5in3's in all front bays, I guess it just depends on the cages you want to use. The last shot is the configuration I'll be using, and the fitment couldn't be any more exact. Case is a Norco RPC-470 $86.99 on newegg.com thanks man lol i started specing out a system to try and present to some friends for some funding you just added some stuff to my newegg to hopefully make it easier. how do you like the 5 in 3's? I think i might hold off on those for now pick them up after the internal slots get used up.
  2. yea you all have my interest on how these setups work out. i started specing a system and I don't even really need to upgrade but 32 threads of powerrrrr i'm like hmmmm
  3. It was weird I had to hope on my unraid and chmod -R 777 * om my plexrequest directory what I saw from my logs was I was having issues with the download of meteordb (I think). Mine has been semi working.
  4. no problem man appreciate the quick reply i updated last night
  5. Nice thanks looks like there is an update any chance we might be able to get the update?
  6. how did you all get this installed would love to give this a go i tired adding the repo to the templates section but no luck
  7. Community Applications Nerd Tools Unassigned Devices Preclear Disks Dynamix webGui will be watching this thread to see what else pops up that might be useful
  8. It looks like the connection was interrupted during download of meteor. You should try again. It might be an issue with their server. ***EDIT*** I just did a fresh install of PlexRequests and it installed fine so weird this is what i have going on with my settings
  9. hey guys i wanted to give this a go but when i get the container setup and what not for some reason it doesn't install meteor it stops around 30-40%. This is what my log file for Plex request is saying. *** Running /etc/my_init.d/00_regen_ssh_host_keys.sh... *** Running /etc/my_init.d/firstrun.sh... 10. I'm stuck with time Warner, they mark everything except ota channels as copy once. I invested my 60 I don't understand the 30 buck yearly. I've been rooting for them to go for unraid but like the original post mentioned they will be doing a Linux version of the server. Will be nice to have the dvr run off my unraid box and I can dump Windows Media Center and Xbox 360 as extenders. It's a decent setup but what SiliconDust is trying to is streamline things it seems like. Going after the licenses I think will help them move up to helping provide us better hardware. Plus this might get them some of ceton users at least on the software side. Have three primes works pretty good so far. Based on the demo the dvr software is better much ready to go from the Windows side.
  11. yea i wouldn't mind centos 64-bit edition one bit especially since I use rhel at work give me a chance to see what to expect in the up and coming versions of the os
  12. Hey WeeboTech was this the link you used to upgrade your firmware? http://homeservershow.com/hp-proliant-n40l-microserver-build-and-bios-modification-revisited.html
  13. I successfully updated my N54L's BIOS last night using TheBay's version. Afterwards, I went into the BIOS, loaded optimal defaults, and then tweaked a few settings. Among the adjustments, I set the "SATA 5/6 IDE Mode" (I don't remember the exact label, but it will be close to this) option to "Disabled" under the "SouthBridge Configuration" options. Upon next boot, all my drives populated in AHCI mode and unRAID started up without a hitch. Thanks. I'll attempt it this weekend. Did you ever get this up and going I got all my stuff precleared Sent from my SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
  14. Seems like my minisas connection or cable has gone bad looks like rma is in my future.
  15. smh did i break my n54l? none of my cage drives are reading anymore. i put in my 16gb of ram and my ssd but now the only things that read in the bios and unraid are the ssd and the thumb drive i have installed and now when i plug in the system the red light is coming on and the system wont boot up
  16. nice thanks for all that info think i'm going to go head and pick up the StarTech PEXESAT322I PCI-Express x1 Low Profile Ready SATA III (6.0Gb/s) 2 Int/2 Ext SATA Controller Card, Crucial 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) and the SYBA SY-MRA55006 5.25" Dual Bay Mobile Rack for both 2.5" and 3.25" SATA HDD, Plus 2 USB 3.0 Port. Are you using an external system to add more drives into it to make use of those other connections you'll get with the pci and pci-e and esata ports that are open? think i'm goin to grab a 2.5 ssd to run my cache on
  17. lol oh okay sorry didn't mean bum in a uk fashion but i'll ask via pm. ill stick with the 2gb stick for now if i noticed things are sluggish i'll probably just grab an 8gb stick and run it at 12 not sure what else I might end up doing with it since it will have so much space.
  18. oh okay i haven't tried using nzbget yet need to try out sick berad and couch what's transmission good for? good links for it? might need to bum some of your nzb :-D only have 2 resources since the big debacle a few months ago are you running anything for your cache drive? only reason i'm leaning with sabnzb just given i'm really familar with using it after switching from newsleecher (i know :-S) but i am open have to do some more research
  19. just got my N54L ordered yesterday off the newegg deal yesterday 299+tax- 50 dollar newegg rebate. Picked up a 4tb hard drive also going to use that as the parity along with a 2 x 3tb hard drives (possibly a third) i picked up over the last couple of months. If i'm just running unraid and probably sabnzb would the 16gb of ram be worth installing? this usb drive shouldn't give me any issues for unraid correct? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004BLIQDW/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER comments off of newegg said this memory was good to go if i need to go for 16gb http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231556 i've saw some mention of a ssd any thoughts on this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227810 pretty excited to get my new 6tb plus system up and going soon!!!!
