  1. Hey brill it worked and I finally get it, I am essentially creating a link between the container and the unraid? Well anyway its important lets see how we get on! Thanks for your help
  2. can someone tell me what explicitly I have to put into the template and how to do it? I have roon running and tried to add a path to my music share but for the life of me I cannot find that path in the roon interface. Any help would be appriciated
  3. Hello does anyone have any thoughts on this or can point me to a resource? Many thanks
  4. OK, I'll dig out how to do diagnostics and send them over when it happens again. For now I restarted the windows machines and I can connect to the share with / in the name box and nothing in the password box. Most odd. I suppose this would be far simplier with dockers, but I cannot get my head round them lol.
  5. not sure what else I can tell you. Set up unraid. Set up shares as public accessible. works for days without issues Then boom. all shares are dropped in all windows machines across the network and to access those shares, all windows instanceswants user name and password. I would blame windows, but really I am not so sure. It did this at the same time on three different machines I have later worked out. I have a VM running windows for roon and another VM running plex. At the same time both VMs lost their SMB connection to the unraid server. Router is Untangle. Server is a twin cpu zeon, 48 gigs ram, networking around the home is Ubiquiti/unifi. I'll check out the sticky. And I'll wonder why three computers dropped the server at once
  6. I am having a lot of issues with unraid on windows in terms of networking. Its happened on 3 windows instances now, one of which resides as a VM within unraid. For a couple of days all hunkey dory no issues, goto network select the server up it pops. Then randomly at some point, windows no longer likes the share, when you select the main server it asks for a user name and password I have no user name or password set. Coming from OpenMediaVault, I have never encountered this issue. Its just screwed up days of database building by Roon. Is there a setting somewhere in Unraid to make it work with windows?
  7. sorry yes I thought I deleted this post as I worked it out. But strange issue there is no where in the GUI to change the size of the V disk? It was there for the forst one but has now dissapeared so I cannot set a size.
  8. Hi, I have successfully set up a VM of windows 10. I want to create another now, but I cannot get past this error: VM Creation Error: operation failed: domain 'Windows 10' already exists with uuid 2ab56e60-f665-033a-11fe-339271f4d1cc A google search turns up nothing. How can I fix this please?
  9. I followed the instructions from Spaceinvader ones tutorial on passing through a nic, but its not clear what the identifier is. He shows to put this in the flash configfile. Firstly which one, I am booting into unraid with GUI, so should I put it here? He also states to separate multiple nics with a comma, should that be a comma followed by a space? Lastly and what has me the most confused which actual identifier is it exactly? Attached is my intel nics I want to pass them all through. The only unique identifiers are 22:00.0, 22:00.1 etc, these are the ones I have used to come up with: vfio-pci.ids=22:00.0,22:00.1,24:00.0,24:00.1 But after a reboot, all the nics are still held by unraid. Any help would be appreciated.
  10. No its ok I sorted it found the excellent unassigned devices plugins, formatted both disks to XFS then was able to format once the array was up, then was able to set to raid 0, yippee!
  11. I've a lot to learn it seems. What I would like to do is sort these cache drives out though, then let the parity get on and do its thing. I had three drives in the cache, I removed one, thats got me to this state of no uuid. I cannot fathom how I format a drive? There is an option to format the unmountable system, it asks me to tick that I want to do this, which I do then I hit format but it does nothing, says formatting then right back to no uuid
  12. Ok trying to do this now I go into cach then to balance. It says 'Balance is only available when array is Started.' But the array is started? Is this any thing to do with 'unmounted no pool uuid' Because I cannot get rid of that I went in and changed it from BRFS to auto, but it gets put right back to BRFS. And to be honest I am getting in a pickle/ I created a new config and told it to retain the parity and datat disks, yet it jumps straight into rebuilding the parity drive? Another 18 hours gone. Sigh.,
  13. Oh well, I feel a bit silly then! I'll try that later as for now, I went from three drives to two in the cache and now it wont mount. I created a new config etc but I think because it is brfs or something it wont now mount. I need to take the array off line and set them to XFS or something but at the moment the parity is rebuilding so cannot. Will try later.
  14. Hi I am trying to make my two disk cache raid zero, followed the instructions here When I do I get this: -bash: -dconvert=raid0: command not found Any ideas where I went wrong?
  15. Thinking about it whilst I have playing with unraid I set up roon in windows on a 4 core T310 and the library is on one 6tb disk and that took about an hour and a half to import. This is really not right.
  16. Thanks for the heads up. We will see. So far I am a bit concerned, I set roon to importing the library last night and this morning its not even half way through. When I ran OMV on this same hardware in a vm it took little over an hour, I am not sure if this a docker issue or unraid, but unraid does not seem to utilise ram at all, not sure if thats the issue. All the cores are being hit, which I want because I told roon to analyse the files on 20 cores, but over night it barely managed 3000 tracks, this is really bad, it should have been done and dusted in a few hours. I will see how it performs once its eventually imported but so far a 10x decrease in performance might be a step to far!
  17. Hi yes, in essence I am copying my back up of music/films etc to the array and appriciate that once the cahce is filled things rae going to drop off and thats indeed whats happened. I am not moaning, just want to learn so much so quickly! Have been used to OMV or ESXi but can totally see the benefits of unraid, but equally the speed of raid is not something I want to land up missing. i.e. copying my music library back to raid zero took around 8 hours but on unraid I estimate I can quadruple that time, but patience I guess is the key, particularly as I can see how dockers are very usefull. All good learning stuff!
  18. Thanks Frank. I have taken a look around already but its a little unclear. I guess patience is key, I was just a little concerned today because I have a large copy to the array going on was always going to take a while but in the mean time plex docker came to a crawl taking minutes to load a tv show, presumably because it too is on the same cache. I am hoping beyond hope that unraid can serve my needs, I am not a heavy user but we can expect Roon and Plex to be in use at once at home and I would be gutted if the experience is compromised. Coming from using ESXi, with a hardware raid in 0, so trying to managing my expectations! The server is a beast so hopefully all will be good once all the copying stops.
  19. Hi, I have 2 evo ssds in use for cache, I believe they are mirrored. Thats fine but as I set the server up lots of copying to the riad is causing the cahce to fill up. I then note that the copy seems to do a bit then drop to zero, do a bit then drop to zero. I could just turn off the cache I suppose but that got me thinking how would things behave if I had say 3 cache disks? Ideally I would be looking for another disk to be used for cache once the first one fills up, is this a thing?
  20. Hi folks thanks for this, I wouldn't have a clue on flashing cards, but as luck would have it I have an LSI 8i something or other which works great.
  21. Hello folks. I have just today started with unraid and hit a hurdle early on. All my drives are showing as 2.2tb, they are 3tb drives, 1 is 4 tb (that I was going to use for parity This is in the section where I assign the drives. I have an H200 (dell) in there. The internet as usual is a bit woolly on this but it seems these cards should be happy to see larger drives, but yet mine does not. Is there any other consideration I have not thought of? Its in a PCI 16x slot if that makes any difference
