My Server is having a Stroke. :(
I did try different slots, and on different CPUs as half of the slots are via CPU1 and the others via CPU2. didn't change anything.

My Server is having a Stroke. :(
No, it's not onboard. I'm using a Dell PERC H200 card. (IT Mode) Problem is, I've bought a second identical card, and both the cards gave me errors. I've then cooled the cards using a fan, and also changed the thermal compound. After this, I didn't have errors for a month. Until I had errors again. :D This is what confuses me. I don't know if the cards are fried, if the cooling is insufficient, if a drive is misbehaving and causing the card to crash or something, or if the motherboard or one of the CPUs is problematic. By this point, i"m even considering the PSU. I don't know what else to try. Would you suggest I buy a 3rd card ?

My Server is having a Stroke. :(
Well, I managed to get the diag. If anyone can take a look at this, I'm more than happy to listen to your thoughts. I know removed the card all-together, and I've connected all 9 drives on the motherboard. 6 via SATA, and 3 vis the SAS port. Since the problems begun, I've completely removed the Parity Drive, as I had to constantly rebuild it which would probably fry my drives all-together. Anyway, other that 1 specific drive with all my family photos, the rest of the drives are media only so I don't really care even if one fails right now. I just wanna fix this. This is getting seriously annoying, and I don't know where to move from here. theark-diagnostics-20250604-1403.zip

My Server is having a Stroke. :(
Mine just have thermal paste, like a CPU. So, new update. The server had been running fine up till like 2 days ago. When the fire nation attacked. :D Same problem. All disks on the HBA card get read errors. I really don't know what to do. This frustrates me really, REALLY much. :( I will wait for the next error, and I will post the diagnostics. Maybe someone can help.

My Server is having a Stroke. :(
Sorry I was on a business trip and had no internet to post diagnostics. I was also so busy I couldn't mess with the server itself. So I THINK I've figured out the issue. But I keep an eye on it, just in case. I'm only replying for a possible future problem of similar type. Turns out, the Dell H200 controller was overheating and causing all sorts of problems. I just strapped on a Fan with a couple of zip ties, and everything works flawlessly. Which though, is pretty weird, since this is exactly the way the server has been running for quite a while now, and the room is 24/7 air conditioned to 22 degrees. I don't know what's gotten into it now. That being said, I will remove the heatsink, replace the paste if there is any, which I guess there must be, (or a pad) and will place the fan properly using a 3D printed bracket. But for now, just cooling the card, did the trick. Anyway, just for reference for future users !

My Server is having a Stroke. :(
Hello everyone. Hope you're doing well. I've been experiencing some issues with my server, and I can't really seem to figure out what's going on My Server Consists of: Supermicro X9DRi-LN4F+ 2 x 2690 v2 128GB RAM 8 Drives on a Dell H200 3 Drives on the onboard SAS 3 NVMes on an Asus Hyper M.2 card 1660 Ti GPU A Dual Coral TPU on a PCIe adapter. A month ago, my server showed me read errors on all the drives that were connected to the H200. I restarted and it worked for a couple of days. Then it happened again. And so on and so forth. Then I saw some errors on the onboard SAS as well. So I thought that was causing the issue. So I moved the drives from the onboard SAS to the onboard SATA. And then everything worked for about 20 days. Today, the server, again, experienced read errors on all drives of the H200 Controller. So I bought a new one, flashed it to IT mode, and installed it. Same errors. Right when I boot the server, it just shows read errors, and I have to shut it down. I tried a second H200. I tried different PCIe slots. I don't know what else to try, my mind is about to explode. I've been heavily relying on this server for my work, and it just cut my legs off. I can't pinpoint the problem, so I know what to change/fix/buy. This is what I see 15 seconds after I start the array: and then I have to shut it down. Any ideas ?

Upgraded to 7.0. Server got a Stroke.
Oh I see. Good to know ! Your solution to the second problem was really helpful too. Thank you !!!

Upgraded to 7.0. Server got a Stroke.
After 1-2 restarts more, the UI finally showed me the drives, but then I got an error when trying to start the array. "Wrong Pool State - cache invalid expansion" And I found this: Removing and re-adding the cache fixed this issue. Now I properly started up the Array. I don't know why this happened. I understand the wrong config for my cache pool, but why the drives didn't show up at all is another question. Anyway, you can look at the logs for possible answers to that, if anyone cares.

Upgraded to 7.0. Server got a Stroke.
Hello fellas. Hope you are all doing great ! I upgraded to 7.0.0 last night, and I now have a problem. I don't see any drivers in the UI and I can't start the array. But I have the "Disk Location" plugin, and that DOES show the drives. #weird. I don't know how to move from here, any advice ? PS. This is what I am looking at right now: Although Disk Location: (Also Posting the logs) EDIT: I did try Restarting, Clean Shutdown and Boot Cycle, and I also tried removing the Unraid Connect plugin as some users suggested here: theark-syslog-20250114-0544.zip

How Do I Pass Through A USB Device To A Docker Container?
Hello Guys. I'm struggling to passthrough a USB Coral TPU to my Frigate docker. Is this still working in 2024 ? typing this: ls -l /dev/serial/by-id in terminal, gives me back this result: /bin/ls: cannot access '/dev/serial/by-id': No such file or directory am I doing something wrong ? Did anything change with the recent updates to Unraid OS ? I can't figure out how to move on. Using "lsusb" I found my USB device to be: Bus 002 Device 009: ID 18d1:9302 Google Inc. If I add a "Device" in the docker with the value: dev/bus/usb/002/009 it KINDA works. What I mean by kinda, is it worked ONCE, then frigate keeps crashing and going on a restart frenzy. This is not a super-deal-breaker for me right now, as 1) I did actually passthrough my GPU successfully, and frigate works with TensorRT currently. 2) I am planning or migrating the Frigate NVR on a Raspberry Pi later. But, it would be nice (till then) to get it working with the actual Docker I am running on Unraid.

General Backplane Question
Hello Everyone ! I would like to ask a question about backplanes and how could I use one (possibly). // A little Info // I am currently using a Supermicro X9DRi-LN4F+ with 9 Drives. 8 SATA and 1 nVME. All 8 SATA drives are connected using a Dell H200 card with two SAS to 4 SATA cables. (after suggestions from forum members). While the Motherboard still has all its SATA ports available. This works great, and I've had no problems using it this way. I have everything mounted on a 100% DIY box, (enclosure) and the drives are just bolted onto an old 3.5" drive bracket from an old server Tower. // What I'd like to do (and my Questions) // I saw online that backplanes from servers are sold as replacement parts. Since my drives are getting more and more (as need grows), could I possibly use a backplance as such, and connect it to my H200, to mount the drives on that ? For example I found that an F313F backplane (such as this one) is quite cheap, and I was thinking of buying one, and making a custom 3D printed case with HDD Caddies for it. Would something like this work ? The F313F has a "BP" connector that goes to the motherboard apparently. Is that necessary ? Would it be a problem not connecting it ? // Other Possible Solutions // Would you suggest against this ? Or would you suggest something else all together? I also saw about drive "cases" (such as this one) but they tend to be more expensive and require proprietary caddies. I quite like the DIY part of my solution, and difinitely like spending less IF POSSIBLE. I'm not rich by any means. ANY advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read my problem. Have a nice day.

Need Help updating my BIOS (Supermicro)
Hello everyone. Hope you're doing great ! I've got a "problem" that I am affraid to try and solve myself and I was wondering if someone could help me out ! The problem: I think I need to update my BIOS, but not only did I get confused by Supermicro's website, but also many articles I read online, said a LOT of things about bricked motherboards, and honestly, I'm too scared to ruin my machine. The process, isn't exactly what I'd call straight-forward. My Motherboard, is the Supermicro X9DRi-LN4F+. Some people update though CLI during boot, some people through IPMI, etc. I'm seriously affraid to ruin a perfectly good machine. Why update in the first place? I currently have a single Cache Disk (a SATA SSD), but for security reasons, I'd like to upgrade to 2 NVMe drives in RAID 1. As far as I know, this is possible, and a good way to be protected. For know, I have to settle for backups of the Appdata folder. That being said, my Motherboard doesn't support NVMe drives since it doesn't have any M.2 slots, so I will have to use PCIe to M.2 adapters. I saw one from ASUS, called "Hyper M.2 X16 Card v2". It supports up to four M.2 drives, but in order for it to work, (as I read here on the forum) my Motherboard needs to suport PCIe bifurcation so it's treated as 4, PCIe x4 instead of a single x16. As this post on reddit suggests, this does actually work on X9DRxxxx motherboards, but with newer versions of the BIOS. Any other possible suggestions ? If someone has some other suggestion, instead of using 2 drives, I'd love to hear it. Or any other suggestion in general. As you must have figured out by now, what I'm looking for, is a fast Cache, but with security in case it fails. Maybe the Single drive + Backup option is good enough. I don't know. Maybe, I could use two different PCIe to M.2 adapters, but I hate to ruin a whole slot, for a single drive. If I have no option though, well.. To Conclude: If ANYONE of you knows what I need, I'd be more than happy to listen to what you have to say/suggest. If you require more info from my side, tell me. Hope I didn't bore you to death. Looking forward to your replies. Thanks. ❤️

License - What would YOU do ?
Oh yeah. Sounds reasonable. I knew that the license is bound to my drive. It makes sense for the key to be in the Config. Thanks a lot for the help. I appreciate it.
-
License - What would YOU do ?
So, what you mean is (in steps): I buy a completely new PRO License. I copy the "config" from my old "Basic" flash, to my new "Pro" Flash. Without changing ANY drives, I use my NEW PRO Flash, on my server, and it will boot up as normal. Then I can use my old "Basic" flash, on my Gaming Server, do a "Reset" on settings and start fresh. Does this sound right ? And I suppose it's not against the rules, right ?
-
License - What would YOU do ?
Hello. I hope you guys are doing great ! General Info: I'm in a middle of a dilemma and I'd like your input on the subject. I've been a user of Unraid for a couple of years now. I've upgraded to better hardware, to more drives, to more apps that run on my server etc. Now, it's time to build my second machine. Some Specifics: -> I already have a server running, with 6 drives. It's running a lot of dockers, and some very specific VMs (like Home Assistant). My CURRENT server, is on a "Basic" License. But I will need to add more drives soon, so I will need to upgrade. I will most likely go straight to Pro. -> My newly built server (which I'm currently testing) is on a Trial License for the past 20 days or so, just so I can figure out if it works or not. It's a dedicated Dual VM gaming machine for me and my wife. This will NOT run dockers, will NOT be used as a NAS, and most likely will not have any HDDs either. Just the superfast NVMes I'm utilizing on the VMs. Apparently, it looks like the Dual VM Gaming setup works pretty well. Awesome I would say. So I'm going to buy the license and proceed with making this permanent. Now the Dilemma: Should I just upgrade my old "Basic" to "Pro" and buy a second "Basic" for the new build? Or should I buy just a PRO and swap the two servers around? (what I mean is:) I could start the PRO from scratch, re-add everything (dockers/vms/settings etc) and use my Basic license on my Gaming build, since I won't require more drives there. Or is that too much hassle? Or maybe forbidden by the rules? Would I break something in the process? I really don't know how to proceed, as the Pro License costs LESS, than buying a Basic AND upgrading a Basic to Pro.

Gaming VM - "Cannot run under Virtual Machine" error when Launching game.
Oh I didn't know that. Thanks ! The only thing that made me "want" the Form View, is the fact that I can super easily change how many cores and RAM I have assigned to my machine. [ Quick Talk - Not important ] I've built this box, only with Dual Gaming VMs in mind, for me and my wife, since it didn't make sense buying a whole separate PC for her. When my wife isn't gaming with me (on RUST 90%) she most likely listens to music, browses the web, watches a movie on Emby or Netflix or spends our money on eBay and clothes. So the idea was, once we decide to game, Split the CPU and RAM in half, (or 60-40 ) and play. Once we are done, give her a couple of cores, and about 8-10Gigs of RAM, and give my VM the full power of that beefy CPU. Anyway, many many thanks for your advice guys. I REALLY hope that EAC doesn't figure out we are trying to hide the VM from it and bans us. Good Day everyone. ❤️ Cheers.

Gaming VM - "Cannot run under Virtual Machine" error when Launching game.
So ! [updates] 1: I've added those 3 lines in my XML, and by ONLY adding those 3, my VM "starts" but I get a black screen. It's not a passthrough problem, because I also get a black screen on my Remote Desktop app. I use "Parsec". What's strange though, is that parsec sees the computer as "online" seconds after it boots, as if it's working normally in the background. Strange. 2: Under <features> if I completely remove the following lines (since you said "and i also deleted any lines pertaining to hyper-v"): <hyperv mode='custom'> <relaxed state='on'/> <vapic state='on'/> <spinlocks state='on' retries='8191'/> <vendor_id state='on' value='none'/> </hyperv> the VM boots up and works normally, but I can ONLY save the VM template in "XML View". If I switch to "Form View" and save, I get the error message: 3: If though, I only add the first two you suggested: <smbios mode='host'/> <kvm> <hidden state='on'/> </kvm> remove the <hyperv mode...> part, but keep the <feature policy='disable' name='hypervisor'/> out of the XML as well, then I can switch back to form view, I can save, It boots, and the game works. So my question is, do you actually now by any chance what this last line does ? It disables the "hypervisor" or something ? And if I skip adding it, will something bad happen ? plus, what about the whole part we had to delete ? Why is it there in the first place ? So many questions, so little knowledge I possess.

Gaming VM - "Cannot run under Virtual Machine" error when Launching game.
Hello guys. I hope you're all doing fine ! I have a quick question to make for someone who might have a solution ! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Some info: I followed SpaceInvaderOne's guides (PRICELESS), and advice from other users, and posts in this forum, and I've put together my second UnRaid build with the intent to use it as a daily with Dual gaming VMs for me and my wife. Things are working GREAT. I've setup everything, and both VMs are running flawlessly with GPU Passthroughs. I even tried several games, and they seem to be working flawlessly as well. The Problem: I tried to launch a game called "RUST" today, (which by the way is the game me and my wife mostly play together), and when the anti-cheat software was "loading" I got the error message: "Cannot run under Virtual Machine". Which does make sense at first, but what drives me crazy, is that the game was launching perfectly fine up until yesterday, and I didn't notice any update to be honest. My Question: Does anyone know if we can somehow trick the software, into thinking it's running on a normal machine ? PS. Or is there possibly something wrong with MY VM ? Although I changed nothing since yesterday when it was working. I've also attached a photo with the error message.

[Support] Linuxserver.io - OpenVPN AS
Hi Guys ! I'm having a problem with OpenVPN. I've only recently installed this, so I'm new here It was running fine for a couple of days. But today I tried to start it, and I get this error message in the log: "./run: line 3: /usr/local/openvpn_as/scripts/openvpnas: Permission denied" It hangs there, and just repeats the message indefinitely. Is it a permission issue ? I don't know what to do. I've read that someone had the same issue, here on this exact post, on Page 15. I could try to remove the container and re-install fresh, but last time I did something without asking first, people here told me I should ask before trying stuff myself. So, any suggestions ?
