December 24, 20205 yr Hi, I have errors on my parity disk and my disk 1. Is there a preference for replacing ... Disk 1 and after parity or Parity and after Disk 1? Thank,
December 25, 20205 yr Author I decided to replace my disc 1 first. I have turn off the server and replaced the disk. In array operations, I don't have the message to rebuild Any idea ? Edited December 25, 20205 yr by Jobine
December 25, 20205 yr Community Expert If you have 2 disks marked as disabled then there is no automated recovery operation. If you meant to say they were showing errors but had not been marked with a red ‘x’ to indicate they were disabled then we need more information about the state of your system to give advice. Providing your system’s diagnostics zip file (obtained via Tools => Diagnostics) might help us see the current state of your system.
December 25, 20205 yr Author Thank for your help. The errors come from my parity disk and disk 1. After a reboot the errors are gone. I also have disk 7, which I disabled (mark with a red X) because it had too many errors, after manually moving the data. It's still in the server. I can reactivate it Here's my diagnostic file. Thank and Merry Christmas. serveur-diagnostics-20201225-0954.zip
December 26, 20205 yr Community Expert If it happens again grab diags before rebooting, multiple disk errors are usually not a disk problem, disk7 is failing though, assuming it's the currently unassigned WD.

December 27, 20205 yr Author How can I replace the parity disk and disk 1, which have errors. And remove disk 7 from my array?
December 28, 20205 yr Community Expert You can try doing a new config, don't assign disk7, assign a new parity and re-sync parity, but if disk1 is also failing there will be some errors.
December 29, 20205 yr Community Expert Single parity can't protect from a dual disk failure, though unlikely to lose it all, but expect some data loss, what I described above is IMHO the best way forward.
December 29, 20205 yr Author Yes, but if a make a new config, I lost all my data ? Or how exactly I can proceed ? Thank,

December 31, 20205 yr Author What's the exactly best way to do it ? (remove disk7, change parity 1 and disk 1) 1- Stop the server and change parity drive (should I change it right now ?) 2- Start the server 3- Stop the Array 4- Use Tools - New config 5- In the New config - Preserve current assignments, which one should I choose ? None All Parity disk Data slots Cache slots 6- Should I replace the parity disk first, or at this moment ? or remove disk 7 from the array ? I'm lost for the logical order without losing any data... Thank for your help.

December 31, 20205 yr Author In doubt, I checked my disk 7 ... Why is there new data if it's not part of the array?
December 31, 20205 yr Community Expert Don't understand what you mean, if you mean the emulated disk7 it's still part of the array, if you mean the old disk it will have whatever data it was there.
December 31, 20205 yr Author I have enough space to move my disk7 data to the others. but I really don't understand why I have data here It is identified as not installed And after, What should I do ? I really appreciate your help ...

When I connect to disk7 with Krusader, is there data from yesterday on it, but it's been several months since I took it out of the array.

When you removed the disk UnRAID started emulating it using the combination of the other data drives plus the parity drive. Unraid is therefore treating it as if it is a ‘failed’ disk, and when you replace it with a physical disk UnRAID will rebuild onto that disk what it thinks should be there I.r. The contents of the emulated disk).
December 31, 20205 yr Author Thank, Currently, I'm copying the data to the other disks. But after, how I remove disk7 completely from the array ?
December 31, 20205 yr Community Expert After there is no data left on the emulated disk7, you would have to New Config without that disk and rebuild parity.
December 31, 20205 yr Author I had errors on the parity. I did a SMART test and everything is ok. In the New config - Preserve current assignments, which one should I choose ? None All Parity disk Data slots Cache slots Thank,
