okkies
So im guessing you finnished the server. How is the i7-12th gen holding up? How is plex 4k transcoding going? What are the powerconsumptions? On idle and on general load? Im thinking of splitting up my 5950x + 3080 server to lower the powerconsumption especially on idle (180 kwh) Quote Link to comment

It works perfectly and really reduce the CPU usage. It handles everything I throw after it. Sorry for the late reply but have you played back direct high bitrate content like 80Mbit? Anything over 40Mbit my Roku would die. The only thing that could play high bitrate content WITHOUT transcoding or lowering the bitrate is my Nvidia Shield Pro using Plex and Dune Real Vision. Ironically they both have 1Gbit ports and the Roku does not. I have never had my Roku Ultra play anything higher than 40Mbit. The internal processor just can't keep up, that's why it defaults to 40Mbit. I actually contacted Roku and they told me to view a special menu with some key code they told me and it did say 12Mbit. If you don't know how to see what the bitrate of the file just grab mediainfo. It will output information like this. And it will tell you the bit rate and all that. Most movies I rip have a higher bitrate than 40Mbit, so I can't use my Roku. Here is the link that shows you the max bitrate the Roku can play: https://developer.roku.com/docs/specs/media/streaming-specifications.md General Unique ID : 148207854240809057338503442650844029236 (0x6F7FCB60EA9246C59DB59280CCFEE134) Complete name : N:\Dune (2021) 2160p 92.46 G\Dune (2021) 2160p 92.46 G.mkv Format : Matroska Format version : Version 4 File size : 86.1 GiB Duration : 2 h 35 min Overall bit rate mode : Variable Overall bit rate : 79.3 Mb/s Movie name : Dune.2021.2160p.BluRay.REMUX.HEVC.DTS-HD.MA.TrueHD.7.1.Atmos-FGT Encoded date : UTC 2021-12-04 09:45:17 Writing application : mkvmerge v63.0.0 ('Everything') 64-bit Writing library : libebml v1.4.2 + libmatroska v1.6.4 Video ID : 1 ID in the original source medium : 4113 (0x1011) Format : HEVC Format/Info : High Efficiency Video Coding Format profile : Main [email protected]@High HDR format : Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.07.06, BL+EL+RPU, Blu-ray compatible / SMPTE ST 2086, HDR10 compatible Codec ID : V_MPEGH/ISO/HEVC Duration : 2 h 35 min Bit rate : 59.8 Mb/s Width : 3 840 pixels Height : 2 160 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate mode : Constant Frame rate : 23.976 (24000/1001) FPS Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 (Type 2) Bit depth : 10 bits Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.300 Stream size : 64.9 GiB (75%) Language : English Default : No Forced : No Color range : Limited Color primaries : BT.2020 Transfer characteristics : PQ Matrix coefficients : BT.2020 non-constant Mastering display color primaries : Display P3 Mastering display luminance : min: 0.0050 cd/m2, max: 4000 cd/m2 Maximum Content Light Level : 787 cd/m2 Maximum Frame-Average Light Level : 239 cd/m2 Original source medium : Blu-ray Audio #1 ID : 2 ID in the original source medium : 4352 (0x1100) Format : MLP FBA 16-ch Format/Info : Meridian Lossless Packing FBA with 16-channel presentation Commercial name : Dolby TrueHD with Dolby Atmos Codec ID : A_TRUEHD Duration : 2 h 35 min Bit rate mode : Variable Bit rate : 3 243 kb/s Maximum bit rate : 5 472 kb/s Channel(s) : 8 channels Channel layout : L R C LFE Ls Rs Lb Rb Sampling rate : 48.0 kHz Frame rate : 1 200.000 FPS (40 SPF) Bit depth : 24 bits Compression mode : Lossless Stream size : 3.52 GiB (4%) Title : TrueHD 7.1 Atmos Language : English Default : Yes Forced : No Original source medium : Blu-ray Number of dynamic objects : 11 Bed channel count : 1 channel Bed channel configuration : LFE Audio #2 ID : 3 Format : DTS XLL Format/Info : Digital Theater Systems Commercial name : DTS-HD Master Audio Codec ID : A_DTS Duration : 2 h 35 min Bit rate mode : Variable Bit rate : 3 931 kb/s Channel(s) : 8 channels Channel layout : C L R LFE Lb Rb Lss Rss Sampling rate : 48.0 kHz Frame rate : 93.750 FPS (512 SPF) Bit depth : 24 bits Compression mode : Lossless Stream size : 4.27 GiB (5%) Title : DTS-HD MA 7.1 Language : English Default : No Forced : No Audio #3 ID : 4 ID in the original source medium : 4352 (0x1100) Format : AC-3 Format/Info : Audio Coding 3 Commercial name : Dolby Digital Format settings : Dolby Surround EX Codec ID : A_AC3 Duration : 2 h 35 min Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 448 kb/s Channel(s) : 6 channels Channel layout : L R C LFE Ls Rs Sampling rate : 48.0 kHz Frame rate : 31.250 FPS (1536 SPF) Compression mode : Lossy Stream size : 498 MiB (0%) Title : DD 5.1 Language : English Service kind : Complete Main Default : No Forced : No Original source medium : Blu-ray Audio #4 ID : 5 ID in the original source medium : 4353 (0x1101) Format : AC-3 Format/Info : Audio Coding 3 Commercial name : Dolby Digital Codec ID : A_AC3 Duration : 2 h 35 min Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 448 kb/s Channel(s) : 6 channels Channel layout : L R C LFE Ls Rs Sampling rate : 48.0 kHz Frame rate : 31.250 FPS (1536 SPF) Compression mode : Lossy Stream size : 498 MiB (0%) Title : DD 5.1 Language : English Service kind : Complete Main Default : No Forced : No Original source medium : Blu-ray Quote Link to comment

opentoe
Well if you are using Plex on the Roku it is most likely transcoding, since the Roku itself can't sustain anything above 40Mbit according to their own specs. I will watch that new Game of Thrones shows later today....hopefully HBOMAX has it in 4k with all the goodies. Quote Link to comment

If they have been obtained via ISO sharing sites then it's more likely than not they are 7-10 Mbitps H.265 files. Quote Link to comment

I was putting it out there since a lot of users don't even know the same file can have multiple bitrates and to show if any red flags while playing, try looking into that.
