AsTuRkInG
Hi, i'm choosing the hardware for my next server and i will need a controller with 6 sas ports I have seen several options but I do not know which of them will be the most recommended. The idea was to use only one controller and not depend on a sas expander The Adaptec asr-78165 has a good price but the drawback of having to use long cables to lead them back inside to the backplate The Adaptec asr-72405 has all the internal ports and seems like a good option, almost twice as expensive as the 78165. I do not know many options that offer 6 sas connections, so I am open to any recommendation Quote Link to comment

First time you mention 24 SATA, in that post you have controllers with up to 24 SAS/SATA ports, if you want a single controller with 30 ports it won't be easy to find. Quote Link to comment
ChatNoir
One exemple would be https://www.broadcom.com/products/storage/host-bus-adapters/sas-9305-24i It is mentioned in the recommended list that was posted above. Quote Link to comment
