Draven
Hi, I have 2 quick questions about Unraid registration. First, does the cache drive(s) count as attached storage devices? And can I use the same registration info (name, email...) as my other Unraid license? Thank you for your time. Draven Quote Link to comment
itimpi
In principle all drives count that are attached any time you start the array regardless of whether they are used by Unraid or not. I have all my licenses under the same name/email so that should be fine Quote Link to comment

Also, if you have unassigned devices attached when you boot the server, they count as well. If you connect an unassigned device after booting the server, it does not count. I have an SSD used as an unassigned device that counts against the drive total. I have another unassigned device external USB drive that I use for backups that is not connected until I want to do a backup. Of course, it is not counted in the total. Quote Link to comment

Booting the server isn't the delineation point, starting the array is. Many people have the array set to auto start, so the difference isn't apparent there, but stopping the array with extra drives over the license limit attached will keep the array from starting until those drives are disconnected, and / or the server will boot just fine with extra drives, but the array will not start.
