sfleck
I had a client wanting my setup so I brought my NAS to demo at there location. I set the network to DHCP in settings and I know the current IP of the server. When I check the status of my online server it is online ... but won't connect locally. Do I need the port forwarded when connecting locally? I didn't think I would. Quote Link to comment

And this is coming from where (or what)? You need to post a lot more information/details about this setup and what services are not connecting-- GUI, SMB, NFS, etc. The diagnostics file would also be a big help! (You may need a monitor and keyboard to generate this file...) Quote Link to comment

Frank1940
Open up Windows Explorer and type: \\I.P._ADDRESS or/and \\SERVERNAME in the resource/location window. Also, in your browser, try typing: //I.P._ADDRESS or/and //SERVERNAME Quote Link to comment

Frank1940
Connect a monitor and keyboard to see what the status of the server is. If you have a login prompt, login and type diagnostics and upload it in a new post. I do not use the My Servers plugin so I don't have a clue if this might be playing a role in this. I thought it might be that you did not have things set up properly for a virgin Windows SMB configuration but you do have not a GUI (apparently). That would indicate that Windows SMB is a secondary factor at best. One thing to try is to use a new Flash drive and do a virgin install. If you know the drive assignments, you could assign them identically in this install and you would have a basic NAS running. (If you have a recent diagnostics file, you can find these in the smart folder...) Quote Link to comment
