Web GUI & SSH broke

Recommended Posts

This morning I went to access my server and I noticed that the existing tab with it had a 500 nginx error & wouldn't refresh. I then tried to open the page on a new windows and the proceed to unsafe page button stopped doing anything on both chrome and firefox. SSH lets me connect and put the user in, but after you put the user in it freezes then closes the connection. My server has also have been having issues with the web gui being really slow or not loading fully but I did replace the flash drive a few days ago. unRaid version is 6.11.5
This is also happening after a couple weeks of my PC saying that it can't find the server through SMB so this might be related to that, any help would be greatly appreciated.

+1 for not being able to access webui. SSH and console are working and webui was last accessed normally about 24 hours ago. Tried shutting down and restoring a backup with no luck. My docker containers seem to be working normally and the storage seems to be working normally. It seems to be an issue with MyUnraid as I keep getting redirected to the MyUnraid URL even when I type in the servers local address.

Same thing happened to me today. Ultimately I got back in by SSHing in and deleting the certs on the flash drive (ssh into server, navigate to /boot/config/ssl and rename/delete the certs folder), then reboot (sbin/reboot). After doing that, I was able to get to the http ui.  Upon redoing my certs (settings/management access) and setting USE SSL/TLS to yes, I'm still unable to use ssl to get to my server. It redirects to port 80 and uses a self-signed cert, not the letsencrypt cert. The WAN Port check also fails even though I definitely have port 443 forwarded to my server. Version 6.10.2 if it matters.

Also, I didn't proactively install/update anything recently, though an autoupdate of something certainly could have happened.  I've also not made any changes to my network setup either.  To my knowledge, I didn't make any changes to my server or network leading up to this.

FWIW I have NerdPack installed. Don't remember why I have it tbh.

My fix was the ConnectX-3 10GbE SFP+ card I was using seemed to be causing all my problems. I swapped back to my motherboards onboard ethernet controller and that fixed it all my issues. Also the big issue I had got "fixed" when the server then stopped responding to pings and had to be forcefully rebooted bring bad a slow sometimes loading webgui.

+1 for not been able to access it. I'm able to access the webui using the ip of my 10GbE NIC, but the default one isn't working. This only happens to me once I start the docker service (even if all my containers are off), and if I try to run any container, I'm not able to access any of them either since they are using the default IP.

Sorry folks, we had a DNS issue yesterday that prevented our unraid.net or myunraid.net urls from working for a few hours. This has been resolved and we are working on changes to prevent this issue.

If DNS breaks in the future (i.e. your Internet goes down) there are instructions here for disabling SSL so you can get into your webgui via http:

It appears this problem is happening again. I'm no longer able to access my server via the WebUI

There is not a global problem. If you are having issues first step would be to follow the link you quoted to get access to your server.

It appears to be with the link that My Servers creates, linking to an older link that does not resolve. Going to the normal link and being redirected I was able to get access to my server. Old link has a port, new link does not.

Where did you get the bad link from? If it was a bookmark then it will go stale when things like ports change.

If you have My Servers installed then you can get the current default URL from the My Servers dashboard:  https://forums.unraid.net/my-servers/

Or you can go to http://ipaddress or http://servername.local and you will get redirected to the server's default URL.

Once you are in, (on recent versions of Unraid) the Settings -> Management Access page will list out all the valid URLs for the server.

The bad URL was both from saved URL's and from accessing it remotely via My Servers.

The Remote Access URL is different from the Local Access URL, and often has an a port even if the Local Access one doesn't. I'd guess that you were inadvertently trying to access the server on your LAN using the Remote Access URL.

Anyway, glad you were able to get access.
