internet went out and then I noticed the unraid pc shut off and upon starting is running parity check

Featured Replies

I don't think the power went out, as i had a console etc on as well. When I came back those things were still on. The parity check is going to take another 18 hours and is on 30%. Should I continue with it? Is there a reason why the unraid would have shut off just because the internet went out?

No

You will always get Unclean Shutdown parity check if the array isn't stopped before shutting down. Do you have any sync errors yet?

Attach diagnostics to your NEXT post in this thread, and setup syslog server

I didn't see any in syslog. I think usually unclean shutdown might result in a few early sync errors so maybe there won't be any but I would let check complete anyway.

Don't have an explanation of why it shut down. Could someone (or something) have powered it down? I used to have a tower PC (not Unraid) with a big power button on top that the cat might sit on occasionally.

Was it actually powered down? Or had it just crashed and had to be rebooted?

You likely had a short power dip, was enough to knock out the server and router but not the console.
