mahasuk
I use NTFS external usb 3.0 hdd 1TB to media library. (I sometimes need to disconnect it, and use it with a media box) For this I use the plugin Unassigned Devices. But there is a problem: When Deluge downloads files to this external drive, at first it downloads at normal speed, but after a 5-10gb the speed drops to 0-0.5 megabytes, and I can't do anything else with the disk, even unmount it. Even if I turn off Deluge completely, stop all containers, etc., unRAID seems to slow down a lot, SMB share slow down a lot (share of all hdd un array). And the system shows that 1 or 2 cores are constantly loaded at 100%. But through the htop console, there is no load at all. If I add this disk to the array, there are no such problems. The disk is fully functional. Problem only in plugin Unassigned Devices I thought the problem was in NTFS, but I format it in XFS, and the situation is almost the same. But if you add a disk to the array, there is no problem. Can someone help? I need the torrent client to download to an external USB drive, since from time to time I need to connect it to another device. Edited February 3, 2023 by mahasuk Quote Link to comment

MAM59
First of all: the 100% CPU are usuall just 0% real CPU. This is just a display problem of UNRAID, it counts in the "waiting for IO" time of that thread. What happens is that the disk cannot keep up with the writing speed, RAM cache runs full and the OS halts the thread and writes out the buffers slowly. You may install "tipps & tweaks" plugin and play a bit with the values of 'vm.dirty_background_ratio" and 'vm.dirty_ratio". Read the help entries for them then try. You may find a setting where transmission maybe slower a bit, but smoother (without blocks). But, in any case, its harmless and at the end total transfer time is almost the same again, whatever values you are using. But it "feels" better without pauses 😁 1 Quote Link to comment

Moreover, the speed is not higher than 70 mb per second Quote Link to comment
MAM59
lemme guess, you have a cache disk ahead of the array? Quote Link to comment
mahasuk
Nope. 2 minutes ago, MAM59 said: lemme guess, you have a cache disk ahead of the array? Nope I understand what you mean, but that's not the point here. For example, I set download movies to 50 GB. It downloads 5-10 GB normally (speed 60 mb per second) Then terrible brakes of all system begin. The speed drops to 0, and does not rise again. even if I close the torrent, and after half an hour if I start the same torrent or another, it can download at a speed of 1-2 kilobytes. There seems to be a problem with the plugin. Quote Link to comment

Solution mahasuk Posted February 4, 2023 Author Solution Share Posted February 4, 2023 In general. I replaced the hard drive with another one, also SMP, and the problem went away. I connected the problem disk directly to the board, added it to the array, and when downloading torrents, every couple of GB, the speed drops to 0, but for a couple of seconds, while it does not slow down the system like when working from a plug-in! I understand that something is wrong with the disk! But in the array it works fine, but not through the plugin! Quote Link to comment
