Inimical
So it's been about two years (I think) since I updated the unRAID software on my server. Lately write speeds have been declining, I decided to upgrade from 4.4.2 to 4.7. On my best days average write speeds were about 10MB\sec.. Since the update they are 40MB\sec sustained. Is this normal, or is something wrong with parity? Thanks. Link to comment
Inimical
Also, I had BubbaRaid installed previously - but now want unRAID OS to be the primary boot option. Any idea how to set it to that? Link to comment

Inimical
Ok.. I did a search prior to posting this but could not find info on uninstalling Bubba raid. Can you point me to the link? Anyone know if my speeds or normal? Link to comment
S80_UK
40MB/s could easily be normal but speed is hardware and configuration dependent. I assume you do not have a cache drive in place. Some info on your hardware setup would help. Link to comment

Perhaps when you were at 10MB/sec you were writing to an IDE drive and at 40MB/sec you are writing to a SATA drive? I know when I replaced my last IDE drives with a larger SATA drive my parity checks increased from about 20MB/s to about 80MB/s. Regards, Stephen Link to comment

Inimical
My configuration has not changed since the server was built. I don't remember the exact hardware, but I have 6 drives totaling about 5TB, all SATA. I ran a parity check and it came back with zero errors. The main page also shows as "Parity is valid". Also, I am not referring to parity speeds. Actual write speeds to the disks are 40MB/s. Link to comment
dgaschk
I'm not sure what the problem is. You were getting 10 and now your getting 40. That seems pretty good to me. Link to comment
lionelhutz
It's probably normal. There was a large write speed increase at some fairly recent point in the development. I thought it was earlier than 4.4.2, but it might not have been. Peter Link to comment
