rctneil
Hi, Just wondering if this amount of usage is correct for my cache drive? I've initiated the mover several times but the usage doesn't appear to decrease? Is this looking ok? Quote Link to comment
itimpi
Difficult to say without knowing how you have your system set up to use the cache and what files/folders are currently there. It is quite normal to keep files used by docker containers and VMs on a pool for performance reasons. You are likely to get better informed feedback if you attach your system’s diagnostics zip file to your next post in this thread. Quote Link to comment
rctneil
As requested! Didn't know about that. Thanks. Hopefully this can provide some more info! tardis-diagnostics-20230820-1540.zip Quote Link to comment
trurl
What is the purpose of this share? T-------y shareUseCache="prefer" # Share exists on cache Quote Link to comment
rctneil
Hi, Looks like one I made ages ago. It only had a couple of old files in. I will delete that share as I no longer need it, but have changed it to store on the Array. There was one small audio file in there. Quote Link to comment
itimpi
Your ‘appdata’, ‘system’, and ‘domains’ share are set to with the ‘cache’ pool as primary storage, the array as secondary storage, and the ‘mover’ direction as array to cache which means you want those shares on the ‘cache’ pool if space permits. This is quite normal for maximum performance. In fact those shares are not completely on the ‘cache’ pool so you will be getting some performance impact. To get them moved completely to the cache you would need to temporarily disable the docker and VM services under Settings as those services hold files open which stops them being moved. However as you have a relatively small drive as the ‘cache’ pool so I am not sure you have the space to hold them completely on the cache. Quote Link to comment
trurl
I recommend a larger cache, or moving some of domains share to the array. To get system moved all to cache where it belongs you have to disable Docker and VM Manager in Settings since nothing can move open files. Do you have any VMs? Quote Link to comment
