Chris Pollard Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 These sound like a good choice for unraid... S1155. 35W and in the UK they are nearly half the price of the i3 2100T http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/core-i5-2500t-2390t-i3-2100t-pentium-g620t_8.html#sect0 Just wondering if anyone has one and if they are running it fanless. I'm currently considering building a second box but it will have to be CHEAP and efficient
naxiand Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Yes can run fanless with good air flow from the case. Most 1155 motherboards use an Ethernet nic from realtek that has problems with unraid. Tom in latest beta working on this. When and if will be fixed no one knows Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk
bcbgboy13 Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Over the holiday (here in NA) Intel released 11 new "Sandy Bridge" processors and cut the price of the existing ones: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/intel-sandy-bridge-price-cuts,13355.html Much better choice (from the price point) will be the 35W TDP Celeron G530T ($47) and the 65W TDP Celeron G530 ($42). The price you are going to pay for a retail CPU is going to be higher but these are excellent competition to the AMD Sargas 145. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116409 The only difference is now the ECC memory capabilities for the people that care (and this is not stressed enough in this forum) PS. replaced the wrong link
Chris Pollard Posted September 8, 2011 Author Posted September 8, 2011 Yep, I'm struggling to find an S1155 board with 2xPCIe, Onboard VGA which doesn't have a Realtek NIC And yeah, the G530T looks good also but I don't see it for sale here in the UK yet.

Chris Pollard Posted September 20, 2011 Author Posted September 20, 2011 How about the ASUS P8Z68-V Pro? That one works... dicreet intel nic and a cheaper board will be my choice however.
