Key Replacement Loop

Featured Replies

Been using unraid for years. Need to change a usb drive. Trying to use this key replacement thing. Its just stuck in a loop with the popup.

Backed up the old usb drive. Used the tool to create the new one. Clicked the button in the registration section. Had to setup a forum account because I've never had one. Popup comes up, says close the popup and click the "finish key replacement" button. Do that. New popup. Never ending loop.

How exactly is this supposed to work? Something I'm missing here?

I've tried Chrome, FireFox, even used Edge. They all do the same thing. Click the "Replace Key" button. Popup comes up. Shows the correct server. Auto closes. Nothing in the main window now happens. Before there was a "finish replacement" button that just opened the same popup again.

I don't see the point of this. All the right server details are there. Its the original key from nearly 5 years ago. USB drive has never been changed.

This is the most frustrating key replacement I've ever done.

For what it's worth, while the standard email response to any inquiry to Support might say up to 48 hours, in truth our response time worst case averages up to about 3 hours 24 hours a day.   The goal is one hour response.   Majority of tickets are handled within an hour ish.  Licensing (ie: key transfers) are the priority tickets.  For what its worth, our support department is staffed 365 days a year.  This includes the major holidays.  EG: If you email support because your server needs a license transfer on Christmas day you will get a replacement that day.

By and large, the automated system for transferring does work well for 99% of the users, and further improvements are also in the works.

@AndrewZ The support page specifically says 1 business day. Most people would take that to mean what it says. It would seem this whole key registration thing is more complicated than it needs to be. Unnecessary frustration for users and administrators alike.

Currently experiencing the same problem.

I too am having exactly this issue. I've tried with Chrome, Edge, Waterfox and regular Firefox but there's no difference. After trying it once, the Finish button doesn't even appear anymore so now it seems I'm definitely stuck.

Same problem here, my flash drive died so I replaced it with a new one and the backup, trying to replace the key and it's just in a loop.  My wife is going to kill me if we don't have Emby for the whole weekend.

I've just sent a support ticket, but if this problem has been occurring for others for nearly a week why hasn't it been addressed publicly so users aren't stuck trying to troubleshoot themselves?

Literally have the same exact problem.
Why can't we have a straight forward process, like, log into our account, see our key, copy/paste it in a installer and have it register the new USB Flash Drive.

I have the same problem.

I have joined the 'party' as well.  Stuck in the Finish Key Replacement loop.

I emailed [email protected].  I heard back from <[email protected]> in short order and was asked to copy/paste the info from the tools/registration page and they made me a new key to install.  Up and running again - yea!

Hi Guys,

Just had the same problem after having changed my USB (messages that it was corrupted and strange behavior for a couple of days)
The solution for me was

  • To install the Unraid Connect plugin (was not in my previous install, you can manage apps/plugins even without activation)
  • In the plugin GUI, Connect to my Unraid account.
  • Go back to the registration section
  • Click on "Replace" once again
  • The pop-up appeared but this time with a new prompt to confirm the key replacement.

  • Drink a cup of champagne!

I hope it will work for you!

Thanks, I was able to confirm this myself, as soon as the Connect plugin is installed the replacement works.
