upgrading 6.9.2 to 6.12.6

Recommended Posts

Folks

Its come to my attention that i'm running a fairly old O/S (6.9.2 dates to spring 2021).

Its time i upgraded.

Q1) can i migrate DIRECT from 6.9.2 to 6.12.6 ?  Or do i need to take it in various steps ??

Q2) reading the 6.12.6 notes, it says theres a known issue with the RealTek NIC 8125.

My m/b hosts a RealTek 8111.

Am i to assume that i'm ok to proceed, or do i need to include myself in that known issue ??

cheers

Richard

You can, but always good to read at least the release notes for all major releases, 6.10.0, 6.11.0, etc

Only if jumbo frames are used, and it's only for the 8125, other models are fine.

Welp, I took the plunge a couple weeks ago, and all is well.

I followed another thread on here that suggested some pre-activities like backing up the apps directory, VMs, and removing some unsupported plugins. I also ran the upgrade helper and it guided me through most of it. It's worth noting that I have a very straight-forward setup with only a couple docker containers and VMs.

Most importantly, I backed-up the USB so that if anything went wrong, I had an avenue to revert back.

Can you share the other thread?  About to take the same leap. TIA.

I would like to see this other thread as well. I am ok 6.9.2 and ready to leap to the latest, 6.12.8.

I am a bit nervous.

I decieded to just let it rip.  No issues going from 6.9.2 to 6.12.8.

Happy to hear that! My server has been in storage for close to a year and a half and I'm about to upgrade from 6.9.2 as well. Might need to open a beer first.
