Kjetil
Hello Having big issues with my Unraid, it has started to drop of the network and freeze after some 5-10 minutes uptime. Can also not access it directly with keyboard and monitor connected directly to the server. Sometime the screen is just black, sometimes a frozen Unraid window appears. Enclosing a diagnostic here, not sure if it's helpful. I am not a tech guy so not sure what to do. I saw today that several of the discs that is part of the raid says historical discs even if they are part of the raid. Can this be the reason for the issue? Should I do anything with the settings on these? All help is much appreciated. Thank you. federalreserve-diagnostics-20240118-1320.zip Quote Link to comment
Kjetil
PS! When the server is up, I can access files without problems. But only for a few minutes before it freezes. Quote Link to comment
ADvorsky
run a memtest on that machine.... just to be sure Quote Link to comment
Kjetil
Where can I find the memtest ? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
It's a boot option on the Unraid boot menu. Quote Link to comment
itimpi
Just now, Kjetil said: Where can I find the memtest ? It one of the options on the Unraid boot menu. alternatively you can download the latest version from memtest86.com to make a bootable USB drive for that version. Quote Link to comment

Kjetil
Thanks everyone, will do a test now Quote Link to comment
Kjetil
The test shows errors, but I don't know how to interprete them... photo enclosed. Quote Link to comment
Kjetil
Test 1, 2, 3 went ok, test 4 shows errors and the test freezes Quote Link to comment
itimpi
Even 1 error is too many. You could try running with less RAM sticks to see if that is any better in case the issue is the load on the memory controller. Quote Link to comment
Kjetil
Ok, so remove some of the RAM sticks and test again ? Quote Link to comment

It seems unlikely multiple RAM sticks would go bad simultaneously so it can help with diagnosing whether you have a RAM stick problem or something else. Quote Link to comment
Kjetil
Ok, removed some RAM sticks and now the test ran without any errors. But what about the discs? Why are some of the active discs also listed as "historical devices" ? Do I need to take any action here? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Those are from the UD plugin, you can safely remove them. Quote Link to comment
Kjetil
Thanks so much for the help everyone. The RAM stick was the issue, so now it's working fine again. Again many thanks for the help, it really much appreciated. Cheers, Kjetil 1 Quote Link to comment
