iStat Server Plugin for unRAID 5b11+ (Installer)

Featured Replies

IMO you should learn more about the plugin system and start using those. The plugin system is where addons are going to be in the future. The unmenu system was workaround when unraid have plugins in the past. In some ways plugins are easier because you just drop a file in your plugins folder and reboot or run the install command from the command line. And you don't have to use the unmenu interface to configure them. They're in the standard unraid web interface.

And just a FYI this thread is for support for the plugin only, not for the unmenu package.

A friend of mine wanted to use this plugin, but it didn't work as the cxxlibs-6.0.14-i486-2.txz link wasn't working.  I googled around but couldn't find a working link for this file, so I updated the plugin to download cxxlibs-6.0.17-i486-1.txz, name it cxxlibs-6.0.14-i486-2.txz.  The package should now work properly.  Tested on 5.0RC4 and 5.0RC5.

Just an FYI I had already posted a fixed version 6 posts back. I just PM'd the OP to see if he can post the updated version to the main post so people can find it.

I tried the version you posted and it failed on attempting to download the cxxlibs file.  The problem is that a new version of slackware was released, and the version of cxxlibs now included in the current distro is different, thus the file name has changed.

Didn't even realize I had used that location. The link you updated it too could change it in the future too. I updated it to use a static location so if that dependency in 'slackware-current' gets updated again this issue won't happen again.

I can't even get mine to actually run. I just upgraded to the plugin, and I hadn't checked the package one until today. I re-installed the app on my iPhone, and was unable to connect.. Replaced package with plugin, SF Settings says it's running, but I can't find a process running under PS.

Here's what CLI tells me when I try to stop and start

root@Tower:/etc/rc.d# rc.istatd stop

Stopping iStat Server

istatd: no process killed

[OK]

root@Tower:/etc/rc.d# rc.istatd start

Starting iStat Server

[OK]

Don't see anything in the syslog about it.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

i m not sure does the developper is active or not but; istat produces some lines in syslog that have script tag it. And that makes the webgui (tower/Utils/Syslog) and control panel get into a refresh loop.

I see an error on my console when booting that says istatd.conf file or directory not found.  It is looking for it in the /etc/ folder.

Also, when I select the istat icon under settings, I see another message on the console that says

find:  /boot/config/plugins/istatd/istatd.cfg.bak"  No suck file or directory....

Does any of this matter?  The app is working on my iphone just fine.

Is anyone else unable to connect to the Tower iStat Server through their iOS device? I even bought the $5 app (I still had the old version on my phone), hoping that would resolve the problem, but, a waste of $5.

I add the device, click on it, and get a message saying it was unable to connect to the server. Don't see anything in the system log, but I'll see if istat has one. Can't find much on the internet except checking firewalls, and changing my iPhone name so that it only has 0-9A-Z. Mine contains the possessive apostrophe in my name, so maybe I'll try renaming it? But something tells me that's not the issue....

won't get much help here, look how long ago I posted my error, and no help.  That said, mine is working and yes, I use it on my iPhone 5 without any issues.

Has it ever worked?  If yes, then I will assume you don't have a firewall port issue, as you would have had to opened that before it will work.

If it ever worked, it was before I got an iPhone 5. And probably on unRAID 4.7.

Ok, then I would confirm your port is open on your router, and then make sure the iStat config page under settings has the same port.  Don't forget you have to set a passcode and that must match on your idevice too.  I just tested and mine is still working fine.

You can also test this on your local LAN, so you confirm if your ISP or router port is causing it.  You just connect your idevice to your home network, where your unraid server is and it should work.

I have the old version, 1.2 and has a date of 2011 - and have used it since 4.7 and with all RC's and now 5.05 - with no issues other than the couple of errors I posted above - but those don't impact the app, still works.

I don't know what I did, but I messed around with the rc.istat service, and fired up iftop. Then decided to try it again, since I wanted to monitor the network traffic and see if anything weird happened. But, it actually connected! I also had the old package version 0.5.6 also, so I made sure to wipe that out.

Port forwarding isn't necessary from within the network (I'm pretty sure that's accurate). I don't have my unRAID server set up facing the internet for incoming connections -- trying to keep it safe!

Let me know if I can help you troubleshoot your bugs.

the plugin requires updates and the author to look at the errors that happen at startup.  As I said, it still works so I just ignore the errors.  I bet you have them too if you watch closely as your server boots, or shutsdown (or just review your syslog).

You are correct, opening ports is only required if you want to monitor while you are away.

Glad you got it to work.  Sounds like you may have had a mix of the old version and the new - which killed it.

Hey guys, not sure when or what happened, but the istat icon no longer shows up, so this isn't working anymore.  I still see the package in the /packages/ directory and the plugin (same one I've been using for a few years now) is there.  Perhaps one of the other apps it loads has been updated and this is now broken.

Can anyone please confirm if you have istat still working with the stock gui with 5.05, and you've rebooted recently?

Nothing helpful in the syslog either, here is all it shows when loading istat;

From doing a quick search, this seems to be the only active (not really) thread for istat, so if it is now broken - we may be screwed.  Time to try out Dynamix perhaps.

I just tried it with a vanilla unRAID 5.0.5 with no other plugins at all and it's working ok.

I have it in /boot/config/plugins

This is good because perhaps you can tell me what additional packages it installed.  I think I have a sub-package conflict.  One of my other plugins most likely updated something iStat needs, thus broke it.

I hope it helps!

root@Tower:~# ls -l /var/log/packages/

it did!  I was missing cxxlibs...  I had to back to one of my backup flash drive images to get it.  Not sure why the app didn't just go download it again.  iStat is now showing up again.

Thanks!

Thanks!

Glad I could help!
