ashman70
Running unRAD 6.12.8, my array is BTRFS. One of my drives is reporting corruption, I am currently running a scrub on the disk. If the scrub can't do anything in terms of repairing the corruption, if I do a parity replacement of the disk, what happens to the corrupted data? Does it remain corrupted, and if so, how can I repair it? Quote Link to comment
trurl
Parity knows nothing about filesystems, it is all just bits. Rebuild will result in the same bits on the disk, so can't fix corruption Attach Diagnostics to your NEXT post in this thread. Quote Link to comment
ashman70
Thanks, that makes sense. So far this morning after running for 12 hours with 6 left until completion, its reporting 226 uncorrectable. I do have a backup of my data. Attaching diagnostics. backuptower-diagnostics-20240328-0741.zip Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Look in the syslog after the scrub is done, it will list the corrupt files, those should be deleted/restored from a backup. Also good to try and find why the corruption happened, most often it's RAM related, but could also be storage related, disk/controller for example. Quote Link to comment
