Where is the DOC/Guide for the Custom VM template?

Ok, so I want to install my .vdi instance of home assistant that's fully updated.  I know that there is a docker of HA, but it's not the full version, and it will not alllow me to restore from a cloud backup..

 

So I clicked on the 'custom' link, and it brings up a blank .XML page that I have no idea how to configure.  Is thee a guide or something i can go read?

I don't think you can use a vdi directly, I believe it must be converted to a raw image first. After you have a raw image, just define a new VM using the normal GUI and point the primary disk to your image.

does it matter which template I use? non of the os' listed apply. maybe I'll just try linux and see if it works..
