Either, I guess. In explorer or finder I can extract a .cbz by renaming it into a .zip or a .cbr by renaming it into a .rar . So I guess from your perspective you would need to treat them in exactly the same way as you would the normal .zip or .rar. Most of the time they just contain a bunch of image files.

based on the current logic of the code it should be able to extract cbz, could you give that a test when you get a chance and based on the results will let me know more. the cbr might also work but might not being based on rare and the logic right now would't process that with the rar binary it would use the 7zzs binary which can extract .rar files but not all so might need to adjust it if it doesn't extract

  • Agreed, I'm also unsure why Dynamix File Manager doesn't integrate compression and decompression into the web UI.

Thank you for a great app and recent updates. One feature I'd even donate for, is the ability to have a button up select to extract to same folder the archive is in. I'm sure a lot of people are extracting to exactly where the archives exist. I use mobile a lot and tapping to select folder is a struggle and for some reason selecting extract location is hit or miss and I end up giving up

i'll take the bet haha. i think i should be able to make work a button or checkbox to click to be like "use same as source" kinda thing

That would be epic. And if you were able to do that, the next thing would be an option to extract to folder with same name as the archive itself. So multiple files are organized.

But I don't want to overwhelm you. The extract to same folder is plenty and would be amazing as is.

both should be doable on the backend but getting the right spot in the webui is the tricky part haha

Fair enough. I wish I could help you out. Are you on discord? Happy to help with tests.

Thanks for this great plugin. Is there any chance you can add support for comic book archives? .cbz is a renamed .zip file, and .cbr is a renamed .rar file. Otherwise as far as I can tell these are meant to just be the standard formats.

realized there was a block in the extraction page too for them, i've now added them for total support both extract and archiving

i like that idea of the archive name defaulting to whatever the name of the folder picked for the output directory. I went with double clicking to add so there wasn't a need for a "add selected" button but i'll put some thought into it

checkbox support has been added and double click method removed, archive name changing to output directory is done also

I'm trying to zip a folder with 20,000 files and approximately 8.5 GB.

"Files to Archive" takes forever to respond.

"Output Directory" takes longer than forever. I select the output folder (which also has a lot of files), and nothing happens. Not sure if it is doing anything, or what it is doing.

Any way to add an option to change the compression? Thanks for your plugin!

i've noticed that too, i'll try and see if i'm good enough to try and optimize that at all

i can look into adding it as an option, not sure when i'll get the chance but i can see this being a good addition

How good is this for multi-file archives?

I know already that it cannot even see filenames in the form of .7z.XXX (.7z.001).

I can see .zip that are the first file of a multi-part archive (rest files being .z01 etc.), but I don't know if it extracts those properly.

attempted to extract a 24gb folder and it failed. The diagnostics only contained this:

PHP Version: 8.3.8

Any ideas?

Great plugin! Is there a way to set the default folder to something specific? I'd like to set it to my downloads folder.

i'll look into it

I am trying to extract a multi-level zip archive. I have selected the file and destination, select extract and it goes into a check for overwrite conflicts then it stalls with a "Could not check for overwrite conflicts." I am not sure what the problem is and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

can't be sure i will have the answer but you'd want to generate diagnostics to be looked at

Attached are the full diagnostics but I am guessing the problem is somehow related to this error in the phplog "[17-Dec-2025 15:25:43 America/New_York] PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 4096 bytes) in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/zip_manager/helpers/check_extract_overwrites.php on line 46"

there is a memory limit with php being processed in a browser from what i remember and i think your file might just be too much for the webui to process. i'd guess if you used command line with direct commands it might work.

Does the Zipper can also split the files into dedicated size like 2GB or 500mb?
