June 15, 201214 yr Thanks Tom. The good news is that I have received email notification for this thread. So maybe it does relate to my choice of ISP in some way. So it appears that email to a domain managed by 1and1.co.uk did not get through (and was not filtered as spam or junk either). Email to a gmail account did get through. I shall keep trying to see if I can find any more info. Les.
June 16, 201214 yr Notifications Update... After a couple of day's playing around I can say that my ability to receive notifications is dependent in my choice of ISP / domain for email. Gmail.com works. Ntlworld.com (Virgin Media in the UK) also works. My personal domain via 1and1.co.uk does not work (no spam or junk mail captured). Btinternet.com (BT in the UK) does (just took a while for the messages to get through). So something strange is going on, but at least I can get notifications to work by choosing an appropriate email address in my forum profile. Edited: Changed status for BT - was working after all.
June 16, 201214 yr I've just tried setting email notification and my personal bellfamily domain works fine.
June 16, 201214 yr Possibly they're missing a spf/mx equiv record in DNS? No idea what that is (even having tried to read/understand). But not worried - my personal domain via 1and1.co.uk is working for anything else that I use it for.
June 16, 201214 yr my personal domain via 1and1.co.uk is working for anything else that I use it for. My domain is hosted at 5quidhost.co.uk, and is working okay.
June 17, 201214 yr I too have just started getting notifications, after following Rajahal's advice (Thanks!), and using a Gmail address! It still does not work through my Earthlink address, nor through my domain on Ipower, and did not previously work on Verizon.net (due to hassle, did not retry). Gmail is not ideal, but is workable, so can't complain.

I came across this problem with a customer - sometimes their email was being refused when being sent to a hotmail account. It turns out that hotmail was rejecting email that the sender's domain didn't have a spf/mx equiv record in DNS. The SPF record is something they use to reduce spam. lime-technology.com doesn't have this DNS record defined.

I have added this record and switched the forum to use smtp.
June 20, 201214 yr Just happened across this thread... My issue is somewhat related, but different all the same... Usually 4-5 times a week I'll get a notification that a user has replied to a thread I'm following. I'll go to the thread and that user has not posted( I have checked, in most cases the user has not posted at all recently). It's always a different user. Sometimes no one has posted, but more frequently another user has posted, but apparently the wrong name gets attached. Not a huge deal, takes me seconds to see the problem so its not an inconvenience, just thought I'd put it out there Sent from my HTC Vivid
June 20, 201214 yr Yes, pretty sure this is the problem. I have added this record and switched the forum to use smtp. Thank you, Tom. Yes - this does seem to have made the difference. The email domain which was not working for notifications is working now. I will continue to monitor for a while, but it's probably one to cross off the list of things to do.
