January 10Jan 10 Author Smart test of disk 2 - 2 TB finished without error, see attachmentSmart test disk 7 - 6tb still runningIm going to try to repair disk 2 via command? After smart test disk 7 i will post new diagunraid-smart-20260110-1720.zip
January 11Jan 11 Author Heres smart report of disk 7, again extended smart results without error.I could run a repair on disk 7, it said the corrupted filesystem has been repaired. Its still unassigned though...Disk 2 is repairing now too..Now what are the next steps?I have 2x10 tb spare but and my parity is 8tbShould i assign disk 7 and then switch parity ,and then switch disk 7 with the last 10 tb? unraid-smart-20260111-0317.zip
January 11Jan 11 Post current dags to see the status, as the server is, leave disk7 unassigned but mounted with the UD plugin, and the array started.
January 11Jan 11 Author i was fixing disk 2 when i was away.I came home and i was about to post the diagn. but now the webui isnt available anymore.I can browse using explorer to all the disks...Except still disk 2, disk 7 i can browse the lost and found items. But why my webui isnt available anymore i dont know?

January 11Jan 11 Author Its been a whole weekend now, hate that i cant do anything.i still got 2 spare drives of 10TB + 1 disk of 2TB which im not sure if it still worksI dont want to lose data on disk 7 (its available now).no problem to lose data on disk 2Should i get another 6tb drive to help me?What do i do know? January 11Jan 11 Emulated disk7 is mounted and it says it has 1.5T of data on it. But I'm not seeing that disk in any user shares, not even lost+found1 hour ago, skank said:disk 7 i can browse the lost and found items. How are you doing that?Don't see SMART for the Unassigned (original disk7?). Looks like a connection problem.

Its a 6 tb disk and almost completely fullI just use "explorer to see dataYou dont see smart for the unassigned (original disk 7) but how can see yhe disk 7 then with 1.5T data on it? That unassigned disk is not disk7 as far as Unraid is concerned. The emulated disk is the contents of the disk that was in that slot, as provided from the parity calculation by reading all other disks. This is how it is able to rebuild a disk, even if the disk has been destroyed. The emulated contents are exactly what will be written by rebuilding. And your screenshots are also showing emulated disk7. Don't know why the emulated disk has less data than you think disk7 should have. And don't understand why emulated disk7 isn't showing up in user shares. If we could get the unassigned disk mounted we could check its contents.1 hour ago, trurl said:Don't see SMART for the Unassigned (original disk7?). January 12Jan 12 Author The connections are good.I can keep posting diagnostics but i'm not getting further... . I know ur trying to help me which i appreciate !However its been a whole weekend, and the longer i wait, i get the idea the more problems are rising. So what i see is the emulated disk 7 = not the same as the unassigned one.If i try to mount the unassigned one it doesnt workagain here diagnostics. What should i do now?Should i get an extra disk of 6 tb to copy all over.and to change parity to 10tbWhat about disk 2.. can i swap it alread by that other 2 tb disk i have?unraid-diagnostics-20260112-1221.zip syslog-192.168.1.117.log Edited January 12Jan 12 by skank
January 12Jan 12 You are still having what looks like power/connection issues, or a controller problem, since the Marvel controller you are using, possibly a Supermicro SASLP, has not been recommended for many years now:Jan 12 13:13:45 Unraid kernel: ata7: hard resetting linkJan 12 13:13:45 Unraid kernel: ata7.00: failed to IDENTIFY (INIT_DEV_PARAMS failed, err_mask=0x80)Jan 12 13:13:45 Unraid kernel: ata7.00: revalidation failed (errno=-5)Jan 12 13:13:45 Unraid kernel: ata7.00: disable deviceDisk7 dropped offline when you tried to mount it using UD; that's why it failed to mount. You need to try and resolve these issues first, or they can make things worse. Check/replace all cables, make sure no power splitters are being used (it could also be worth using a different PSU if you have a spare), and ideally replace that Marvell controller with a recomended one https://forums.unraid.net/topic/102010-recommended-controllers-for-unraid/

(the marvel one has issues with sleep anyway). But i'm not sure that will fix it, since it was the same thing if i swapped it with disk 2
January 12Jan 12 I would still recommend replacing the controller, but it could also be a power/connection issue, especially if there are power splitters in use, or just a bad PSU

The first one has sas cables to 4 drives, including disk 7I just replaced all those cables.. AND the power cable of disk 7Yes i use a splitter for those hot swappable cages normally, but for test i use a power cable straigth from the psu, so i'm 100% sure the problem is not the sata cables nor the power cable.Tried mounting again, still no luck. So its definately no power or sata cable issue!Should i try the second SFF 8087 connector? Can i do that without turning off?The psu is use is: corsair cx430What expansion card you think i should buy? i only need 6 extra sata connections able to fit on my mobo: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. H370 HD3-CF
January 12Jan 12 Author Changed port on expansion card, still the same, cant mount. Can i exclude the card somehow?I have 6 sata connections on motherboard, but they are taken for disk 1-5 + parity , i cant swap those or i will have problems i assume, just to exclude problem with sata expansion card

January 13Jan 13 Jan 13 10:37:18 Unraid kernel: ata7.00: disable deviceIt was. My suggestion would be to connect disk7 to a different controller to confirm if it's really the controller causing the issue.

January 13Jan 13 You can just connect disk7 there, unplug one of the other ones temporarily, and then see if disk7 mounts with UD.
