Hi All

I've recently been having this issue daily where all except one share is missing when i first look at my server each day. have never had this issue before and now i believe today is 3 days in a row

running the latest stable version of unraid.

a reboot resolves this issue but doesn't prevent it happening again.

is anyone else having this issue?

Open the unraid console and type in ls /boot/config/shares

you should see a list of your "share_names.cfg"\

so running ls /boot/config/shares gives the following:

id only expect to see the shares shown in the 2nd photo, i also noticed it happened right after invoking mover, where all shares vanished again expect for tv shows 4k

i have a feeling that the shares are breaking when mover runs which explains its frequency. but im unsure on the change to make to fix it without just disabling mover

That listing implies folders have at some point been created at the top level of a pool or array drive - not within a folder named for a share. All top level folders on any array drive or pool are automatically treated as User Shares (with default settings).

If that was something that happened in the past that has since been rectified then the Cleanup button on the User Shares page will remove any .cfg files that no longer have corresponding folders on your drives.

have run this and confirmed only shares are now listed with the rest being removed. have then also confirmed it breaks the shares when invoking mover. (happens within 30 seconds or so)

scratch that, still happening even with mover disabled. oddly enough i deleted the 'tv shows 4k' share (it was empty anyway) usually that was the only share left being shown but now with the issue occurring it showed 3 shares but not the rest. this share issue is happening pretty soon after starting the array after server reboot. mover disabled. fresh logs attached from right after.

Lots of errors for your cache drive before that in syslog, looks like it has disconnected and is probably an Unassigned Device now.

I did notice the drive was listed under both the cache pool and under unassigned devices, sorry can't believe I forgot to mention it. Would it be best to remove the drive from cache pool fully delete the cache pool and then recreate it and readd the drive? Cheers

Check connections to cache, SATA and power, both ends, including splitters. Post new diagnostics after reboot.

okay so after a bit more trialing. after array starts all looks normal until the cache drive gets a few writes going (after dock containers start up) then the drive also shows up under unassigned devices, the shares disappear. cant navigate to the contents of the cache drive via unraid GUI or windows network share. in terms of my hard drives phyical config all hdds are connected via Dell TD2NM H330 HBA (sold via theartofserver) with 2x StarTech.com 1m Internal Mini SAS to SATA Cable (lifetime warranty) no other drives are having any issues that i can see, i also changed the sata connector the cache drive was using just incase.

cables have also been checked.

Drive is still dropping; swap both cables with another drive and see where the issues follow.

if i swap a drive in the array with the cache drive and the array drive drops out. wont i have to rebuild the array? or do you mean swap out the cache drive with a spare hdd not in the array? cheers

As you prefer, you can also just replace both cables to rule that out.

This means that the drive temporarily dropped offline and then came back with a different id and Unraid is not hotplug aware so it cannot handle this.

so i thought replacing the cache drive had fixed it, has been fine for a few days. but then ive re-enabled mover and run it and lost more shares. they come back after a reboot. i also seem to have the tv shows 4k come back randomly. ive deleted it a number of times (its an empty share) but always seems to reappear. i have removed any docker container links that may have been creating it or using it in the past.

im now thinking it may be due to power draw on the sata power cable causing a drive to disconnect even though id assume the drive that would disconnect would be random. ive run another sata power cable from the PSU dedicated to the parity +cache drive.

Cache drive is still dropping, if you swapped both cables, you can try replacing it with a different device.
