September 14, 201213 yr Author Hello all, Still no luck getting my server to show up. I am totally lost as to what to do next. If I create a new flash will all my data be lost? I have 5 drives, 4 data and 1 parity. Will the drives be recognized if I create a new server and add the drives? I added a few print screens in hope that maybe some one can see a problem. Thanks in advance, Oscar
September 14, 201213 yr The issue appears to be your Windows 7 PC. I would get hold of a laptop, give it a static IP or 192.168.0.200 and set it to "WORKGROUP". Then plug it into your cable modem and see if you can ping the NAS. Also I see your NAS is not static, it's IP is now 12. Log into your router interface and make it static....
September 14, 201213 yr Try ipconfig /flushdns You can also try renaming your hosts file to hosts.old and rebooting to ensure its not being used.

September 15, 201213 yr Can't remember exact location. Google window 7 host file. You can also google and see if you can flush the cache on your router. I use to have one if the 2 wires, hated it. All else fails you can reinstall, just seems drastic to me
September 15, 201213 yr Doubt it's a host file issue as you can resolve the IP and name correctly when you ping them. Hmm.. Maybe moving your router fooled your Win7 machine to thinking it was a new network connection. Open the "Network and Sharing Center' on your Windows box. First make sure the network you're connected to under 'View active networks' is setup as 'Home network'. If it says Work or Public, change it. Once you've confirmed that, click the "Change advanced sharing settings" link on the left column. Make sure 'Network Discovery' is turned on.

Tower still not coming up. I tried to post a few more print screens, but I cant resize them without them pixilating. what is the best format to save them in? Do I need to reinstall Win 7? Thanks again, Oscar
September 18, 201213 yr Host them on imgur so you don't need to resize. Just link us to them. Ultimately re-installing windows might fix it, but that would be an end all solution. If you don't have anything you don't mind losing its not a big deal, but its kind of like buying a new car to fix a leaking tire.
September 18, 201213 yr I recently updated to a newer unraid and had to change the workgroup back for "workgroup" to "mshome" which is the correct work group on my win 7 box and the settings tab in the unraid GUI. Your ipconfig is doing weird stuff too. I would see if you can update, or reinstall your Ethernet cars driver. Sometimes this is from an OEM site (dell.com, gateway.com, etc.) Or from the nic chip manufacturer web page. Oh, try your motherboard manf website. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
September 19, 201213 yr Author Ok I think I reall f'ed up. Whil I was trying to update the nic driver u thought why not uninstall it and then re install it. Thought that should be easy.. si I did. Now I don't know how to reinstall it. I inserted disk and ran setup. Looked in device manager and no network adapter shows. What should I do next. Thanks in advance I feel like I DKS about computers these days, Oscar
September 19, 201213 yr Author Ok I was able to find the correct driver and NIC is working again. still no Tower in My Computer. Tried changing workgroup to mshome no luck. Any and all suggestions are welcome at this point. Thanks in advance, Oscar
