Avngl
Hello, I have posted numerous threads here and after some digging through, I have concluded my build, however I am unable to find the right case for my build. My budget for the case alone would be less than $100. Below is my build: (Currently will house 6 HDDs, but I am looking to go more than 10 in the future) CPU: Intel® Pentium® Processor G620 Motherboard: ASRock B75 PRO3 (Mainly for it's 8 Onboard Sata) RAM:4GB Kingston DDR3 Case: HELP NEEDED Power Supply: Corsair TX850M Parity Drive: 3TB Caviar Green Data Drives: 3 x 3TB Caviar Green, 1 x 1TB WD Black, 1 x 1TB Seagate Barracuda, 1 x 1TB Samsung F3 Quote Link to comment

Avngl
Antec Three Hundred Azza Helios 910 Thank you. For the Azza Helios 910, Does it mean that it can contain 4 x 3.5" drives internally, and if I were to add XIGMATEK 4 in 3 HDD Cage, I could have 12 x 3.5" drives outside which totals about 17 x 3.5" drives in 1 case? eroz
from the picture.....the 9 external bays are 5.25". The 4, 3.25" internal bays are inside three of the 9 external bays. The most you can fit inside will be 12 drives and that is if you use 3 of your cages. No cages will get you 9 drives. Quote Link to comment
batt01
I use a Nexus Prominent 9 case. It has 9 5.25 bays. You can fit three 5 in 3 bay in the case for a total of 15 dirves. It is the one that Greenleaf uses for their silent tower. I like it better than the Azzia, dont like the big ugly blue fan on the sie. Quote Link to comment

Is this the same one here: http://www.amazon.com/Nexus-Prominent-9/dp/B0057JAJT6 Where else could i get it (online) ? Quote Link to comment
batt01
Yes that is the same case. Newegg does not carry it. Bought mine at Amazon. Right now I just have one Norco SS 500 installed. You will have to flatten the tabs that normally hold optical drives if you plan on using 5 in 3s. Looks like a Amazon seller has it for $69.00. I paid $110.00 for mine a year ago. http://www.amazon.com/Nexus-Prominent-9/dp/B0057JAJT6/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1351285314&sr=1-2&keywords=Nexus+Prominent+9 A few bucks cheaper here. http://www.endpcnoise.com/cgi-bin/e/prominent9_case_package.html Quote Link to comment

Do you have pictures of the tabs that are unmoded and then flattened? Would the 5 in 3s have any issue in recognizing my 3TB drives? Quote Link to comment
batt01
Tabs are the little metal iips that that stick out from the sides. If you install an cd/dvd drive the bottom of the drive rests upon these tabs. If you are installing a 5 in 3, they have to be flattened, so they are out of the way. Most use a deep throated C-Clamp to flatten them out. Not a big deal. If you have a dremel, you can grind them off. I have two 3TB drive in my Unraid box now, running the latest beta, no, problems. I fyou use 3TB drive you have to use one of the version 5 betas. Quote Link to comment

batt01
The install of the Norco SS 500 went fine. The fit is a little tight. I am not sure of the size that I used. I have two of them. One 3 inch and one that is bigger. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200237724_200237724?cm_mmc=Google-pla-_-Hand%20Tools-_-Vises%20%2B%20Clamps-_-962275&ci_sku=962275&ci_gpa=pla&ci_kw={keyword}&gclid=CPeL4q2ZrbMCFZGPPAodRz4ASQ Quote Link to comment

Compass
Right on budget, Rosewill RSV-L4500 Black Metal/ Steel, 1.0 mm thickness , 4U Rackmount Server Chassis, 15 Internal Bays, 8 Included Cooling Fans http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147164 I bought a Norco RPC-450B, ordered the black, but got sent the silver body version, and now I know why, it's discontinued, IPC must have been running the stock out. Moral of the story, buy from Neweeg not from IPC. Anyway, this came out a few weeks later, it's the perfect starter case, in my opinion. Quote Link to comment
caseyparsons
If you're looking for a tower form-factor, I'm really happy with the NZXT SOURCE 220. Lots of space, great airflow, mesh front. $55 at Amazon. Quote Link to comment
