May 23, 201313 yr Just for the fun of it and to provide some ideas. These are the lights I use under the top of upper shelf for working at night. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50192365/
May 23, 201313 yr This is what I am building and the right PC will be my unRAID server Also I have a Herman Miller Aeron chair myself... So good! Altho I did have to drill the arms off lol. You can see the desk as it is currently: Still a work in progress.
May 23, 201313 yr That's cool. I could see it for a prototyping desk. It might drive me insane having to clear the desk any time I had to maintain the hardware. I always loved those cool open architecture prototyping chassis. Look into those Ikea lights, you could do some pretty cool lighting inside the the desk.
May 24, 201313 yr If you like the JBL sound have a look here, diysoundgroup, sorry dont know how to copy paste links on my phone! no $10k speakers, but nice,
May 24, 201313 yr The Paragon is a lot more than just a speaker system ... it's an "experience" ==> the massive curved wood center section did miracles at directing the output of the huge horns, and provided a massive internal chamber for the 15" woofers. I've never had the opportunity to own one of them, but have had a pair of Klipschorns, which is the only thing I've ever heard that came close to a Paragon. But nothing really sounds the same ... put a Paragon on stage and play some good jazz or an orchestral piece, and you can easily believe that the jazz quartet or the orchestra is actually on the stage playing I've also built a few of my own over the years ... in the late 70's some friends and I built some DIY Bose 901's that sounded every bit as good as the actual 901's [i know, I had both a set of Bose's and the clones I built]. The clones cost ~ 1/3rd of the originals ... Now if only someone would come out with a set of the original drivers for a Paragon !! [and, of course, a source for the amazing woodwork that's also involved !!]
