Installed v1.2 on v5.0.5 with CP, SickBeard (alpha master running Python v2.6.6), Dynamix (v2.2.2), SABnzbd (v.0.7.16), and MySQL 5.5.30.

Initially ran into issues where the database wouldn't update on my OpenELEC 3.2.4 (12.2). Installed XBMC v12.3 on Windows & was able to get it to update the MySQL DB by removing the background update setting completely. Verified on the 2nd OpenELEC box that Movies and TV Shows were properly indexed.

Now trying to setup Notifications within SickBeard but can't SaLUd's web interface working. Checked the that the port (9091) isn't conflicting with anything else and modified guisettings.xml to 9091 but still running into issues.

Any help is appreciated.

BluechipJ:

I have had (and struggled with) the language error near the end of your log.

There was something else on my system that was messing up the locale, and then xbmcsalud wouldn't start.  I ended up removing my development tools.  Then, I had to remove the xbmc files from the two specified directories.  At this point, the pluging settings screen offered an "install" option and that allowed it to reinstall all of the libraries that it needed, which seemed to fix the problem (at least, until my next reboot)

tcharron, glad you got the problem fixed.

BluechipJ, does the test notification work?

I haven't solved my problem.  When I scan video (from the plugin screen), the log shows this:

I have the same problem with audio.  The problem is reproducible for me, as I have it on two different servers.  I have what I think is a fairly straightforward sources file (one copy posted above in this thread).

BluechipJ, does the test notification work?

No. Web (browser) and SickBeard test notifications do not work.

CP Server Thread-7 :: Failed to detect XBMC version for '192.168.1.25:9091', check configuration and try again.

(Tested it on 9777, 8080, 9091, etc.)

Resolved the language issues by downloading language.xml, strings.xml, and strings.po from Github (https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/tree/master/language/English) and creating the folder (in the data folder).

Now it looks like it starts up without errors but still no web interface:

In the Unraid log, it does show execution:

but no web interface/test notifications.

However, when I use PuTTY and run it manually, "sudo /usr/local/lib/xbmc/xbmc-server.bin --no-test --headless -n -p" (missing environment/install directory variables) it executes and I'm able to pull up the web interface on 9091 but it won't login with xbmc/xbmc (since it isn't loading the cfg).

When the webUI says it is running can you see the process listed under the webUI processes page?

Now it looks like it starts up without errors but still no web interface:

23:21:36 T:1118578560 ERROR: Create - Error creating /mnt/cache/Internal/xbmc/portable_data/userdata/Thumbnails

23:21:36 T:1118578560 ERROR: Create - Error creating special://masterprofile/Thumbnails/Video/Bookmarks
etc

That looks like a rights problem (above)

The default xbmc is xbmc/xbmc, but the salud installation uses xbmc/salud - maybe it is using that?.

Hello all, I've been tinkering with this plugin for a few days now and can't seem to get it working properly. I have mysql setup and that appears to be working properly. For some reason, I am unable to access the xbmc gui or get test notifications to work from sb/cp. I have attached my log file to have someone take a look.

Also, thanks to bobbintb for the plugin!

Initially it looks like a permissions issue. Try using the chmod and chown commands on the directory where the set the files to.

Thanks for the quick reply! Could you help me out a bit more on exactly what to do as far as confirming/changing the permissions?

Would I be doing this on the data directory for xbmc on my unraid?

I was thinking about it. I need to look into it further though. Since I have been having issues with the current 5.0 test version and less time to focus on it I am considering just moving on with 6.0 and leave 5.0 as is.

Hi Bobbintb, I was wondering if there was any progress on a 64-bit version of this plugin. Or even better, is there a way of creating an installable package that would run under ArchLinux? I really like the premise of this tool, but it would be awesome if it could live in a VM like everything does under 6.0 to keep UnRAID clean.

Yes the data directory.

chmod 755 -R /your/data/directory/*

Thanks for the help.

Ok so I ran the command exactly as typed below through telnet. Before running it I stopped the xbmc salud plugin. I didn't get any kind of success message or anything but I assume it worked. Unfortunately it didn't seem to change anything as I still can't access the gui or send notifications.

chmod 755 -R /mnt/cache/appdata/xbmc

Any thoughts on what I could do now? I'm posting my most recent log after running the command and restarting the plugin.

Looks like part of the issue is fixed but it is still not loading everything it needs:

09:35:18 T:1118578560   FATAL: Create: Failed to load English language file, from path: special://xbmc/language/

This issue has happened to a few people and I believe it was resolved by copying strings.xml and langinfo.xml files from a working XBMC installation. I don't know why those files don't get created as they should for some people. Fixing the permissions (chmod and chown) should fix the issue but people say it doesn't and I have never been able to recreate it.

I haven't had time to even look at 6.0 yet and I don't know when I will, if ever. As far as the package goes, this was actually done before on Arch before I did it on Slack. One may already exist somewhere. Or you could compile your own using the instructions I used.

Ok so I pulled the langinfo.xml and strings.po file from a working xbmc install and placed them into the proper folder. Now it looks like everything loads up properly, but I'm still unable to access the gui or send a successful test notification.

I've attached my new log file again. Any thoughts on where to go from here? Thanks again for your help!

That is a little more elusive. If the test notification doesn't work it means there is a no communication. It might be a setting or something else. What are your network settings for SaLUd? Check to make sure the settings in the webUI match those in the settings file located on the flash drive.

So I checked that the webUI and settings file matches, which they do.

My settings are:

port: 9090

user: xbmc

pass: xbmc

run as user: nobody

I've tried a number of different ports such as 8080, 9090, 9095, 9094 with no success.

Can you give me more specifics about your setup? Do you have other XBMC instances?

Just a simple question, I hope I don't offend bobbintb.  How is this different from just having mysql installed on the unraid server?

For clarifications before I implement this:

1.  This headless xbmc will trigger mysql to update new shows, so when we connect an actual xbmc (from bedroom or wherever), the library will have been updated already, no wait time?

2.  I've used unmenu to install mysql, though mine was only version 5.0 something.  How do I update to 5.5?  Any commands that I can run?

3.  How can I see the gui of this headless xbmc?  Anyway I can see what actually is being displayed?

No offense taken.

1. No, it doesn't. MySQL is just a database. XBMC doesn't "trigger" MySQL. It is XBMC that gets triggered to update it's library by programs like sickbeard or couch potatoe. XBMC uses MySQL as it's database to store all library related information.

2. I'm not sure how to update it with unmenu. Try it without it. The library MySQL 5.0 uses might be the same and might not. Worst case, it will tell you you have to upgrade it.

3. Headless means there is no gui.

The reason for this plugin was to keep the entire process self-contained. UnRAID has plugins for sickbeard and couchpotato that will download shows and movies and send notifications to XBMC so when those programs download something XBMC instantly get updated. The issue is that not everyone has an instance of XBMC running all the time to be able to receive these notifications. If those programs download shows and XBMC gets no notifications then you frequently have to manually update XBMC (you could use that library watchdog add-on but it has never really worked well for me). This can also be time consuming on, say, a raspberry pi with a large library. Keeping XBMC, sickbeard, and couchpotato on the same machine eliminates this problem.

As for the GUI, XBMC SaLUd needs to be headless for a few reasons, namely unRAID, at the time SaLUd was developed, had no way to run full XBMC as unRAID is a headless appliance with no xwindows system to run any sort of GUI. I don't know about unRAID 6 as I haven't had time with it. The seconds is because a GUI is not desirable anyway. XBMC can be very resource intensive, especially with the GUI. SaLUd's only purpose is to update the library and nothing more. Cutting the GUI out, along with a number of other things, keeps the memory footprint low. It makes no sense to have a program eating up so much memory, outputting to a screen no one is looking at, just for the sake or receiving an update signal once in a great while.

I've tried both SB and CP.

Do you have another instance of XBMC on your network that you could try a test notification on? Or when you put in the ip of the local machine do you use the actual ip or 127.0.0.1? Try both.
