copy files, wait 30min, hard reboot = data loss [thread -rc16a]

Featured Replies

I'm running RC16a on my "live" backup server and it's just fine.

But it's not available for general download, so clearly there needs to be a version that supercedes RC15a, since many folks know about the potential data loss issues.

I still had rc11a on my real server as I was not (yet) very confident about latest rc's (1st because new 3.9.x kernel, then this... and I have no backups... so I don't usually hurry to update it on real server just on every rc version, unless maybe when there are really small changes/fixes), but seeing that all tests on rc16a went fine, and that the problem described on this thread was reproducible on 11a, I did just updated it on my real server some days ago and so far all seems perfect.

Bug fixed?

Hi all -

I'm happy to announce that reiserfsprogs 3.6.23 has been released.

This release was mostly to push out the accumulated fixes and to move

past the problem with the 3.6.22 release not providing the correct

version number.

The changelog is fairly small:

        clean up build environment

clean up io-failure-emulation logic a bit

        mkreiserfs: stop printing credits

        reiserfscore: add support for register_printf_specifier

        reiserfsck: support `fsck -f -n`

reiserfscore: fix uninitialized variable warning in print_indirect_item

reiserfsprogs: fix -Wpointer-sign warnings for blocksize and position

debugreiserfs: fix dereferencing type-punned pointer warning

reiserfsprogs: fix unsigned char with strlen/strcmp/strncpy warnings

        reiserfsprogs: fix printf formatting warnings

        reiserfsprogs: fix set-but-not-used gcc warnings

        reiserfsprogs: remove autoconf-generated files

It can be downloaded from any kernel.org mirror:

ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/jeffm/reiserfsprogs/v3.6.23/

Bug fixed?

No, but I have been talking with Jeff.  My patch is good and I will release with it, but probably he will come up with a different patch sometime in the future.
