Featured Replies

Okay OpenVPN can start now but my laptop can't connect to it. I've done port forwarding. I'll look into it.

what do I  miss29kow0x.png

Did you use the "inline file" for your client

sorry I are a noob to set this up  ;D  I try  under clients  whit single files and add client and also try one in-line certificate file that are 2 way right ?  and copy the files over to my phone and import the .ovpn file

try the inline file, that works fine on iOS

are that not just that  ovpn file I have make ?

IP to server is missing

Thx it work  :-[

Is working?, strange that the IP was missing. The plugin should take you WAN IP and add to the user file

Hi, on the public beta (6.20 b18) I cannot connect to my server through ssh anymore. Could you check if this plugin maybe relies on an incompatible SSH version?

For other users (without this) the beta build works fine. I can only connect over (insecure) telnet on port 23.

Thank you!

Fixed by deleting the config/ssh dir

Hello peter_sm, I'm having issues when I connect to open vpn. Whenever I connect via my phone and enter the ip of my server everything slows to a near stop. I cant access my servers ip (192.168.1.253) or any directories in it (192.168.1.253/settings), when this happens I cant get through on my phone or computer on the local network, however I still can access different ports (so all the dockers still work) on the local pc.

I tried what you suggested with Tola and got the  "cat: /dev/net/tun: File descriptor in bad state" message, but I'm still having these issues with openvpn.

When I save the server config in the openvpn settings my console gives me these errors (even though the console gives the error, the gui shows no difference)

First

grep: /var/log/openvpnserver-status.log: No Such File or directory

Then

tun0: error fetching interface information: Device not found

If I go ahead and start the vpn server anyway, the console puts this out:

nohup: redirecting to stderr to stdout

Again, I can still initially connect to the openvpn, and for a brief moment when I enter my servers IP i can see the unraid gui begin to load, then about halfway into the loading, everything stops and it takes so long I just end up rebooting the server.

**EDIT**

I forgot to mention, the same thing happens when I enter my OpenVPN servers IP.

Here's a Screenshot of My VPNServer Config

Hi Peter,

Hopefully this is an easy one. I cant seem to remove a user I have created. I thought that revoking the user would essentially delete it but it's still in the system. I tried uninstalling the plugin and re-installing but the user remains and is displayed as revoked. Whats the best way to remove and re-create users? apologies for my openvpn inexperience, I have used openvpn before on linux via webmin  but am still somewhat of a noob! thanks in advance.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the plugin. I can't seem to get a connection to the server though. I've followed the directions, forwarded 1194 in my router to my unRAID IP (port 1194), installed the key on the client, but when I try to connect the connection is refused (error code 111).  I've triple-checked that it's not my ISP or my router (I can forward 1194 to 32400 on the unRAID box without issue to access Plex).  I've confirmed that the server is running according to the plugin.

I'm running unRAID 6.1.9. If it's relevant, I'm not seeing a "VPN Server IP" show up on the main page for the plugin.  Also, I tried running OpenVPN-AS before uninstalling it and installing your plugin instead. Any ideas?

I don't have 6.1.9 , using 6.2 beta. It might be so that 6.1.9 needs to be updated since server are OK on 6.2?

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll try again once 6.2 comes out of beta.

Not Peter, but I recently did this by logging in to midnight commander and deleting the relevant client folders from the myVPNServer folder and/or the config folder (I can't remember).  I have no idea if that's the preferred way to handle it, but it did delete the clients.

it was working fine for me but since the last update now for some reason tun0 is not found.  >:(

It looks like updating to OpenVPN packages to 2.3.11 is giving me the error:

openvpn: symbol lookup error: openvpn: undefined symbol: SSL_CTX_get0_certificate

Which is preventing OpenVPN server from starting up.

A quick google seems to suggest that this is due to a dependancy on OpenSSL 1.0.2+. A check on my unraid 6.1.9 shows that it is using OpenSSL 1.0.1s  1 Mar 2016.

Anyone have an idea on the easiest way to resolve this?

Update to the latest 6.2 beta. OpenVPN 2.3.11 works fine with it.

Here's the link you paste into the Plugins/Install Plugin field:

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/limetech/unRAIDServer-6.2/master/unRAIDServer.plg

This is the forum page for the latest release so far [Click Me], 6.2.0-beta21. It also comes with some cool new features like the option to have 2 parity drives now.

Thanks for your help.

Is it possible to just upgrade OpenSSL?

Thanks for your help.

Is it possible to just upgrade OpenSSL?

installpkg /boot/packages/openvpn-2.3.9-x86_64-1.txz

Solved it for me :)

  • Author

Easiest is to find the old packages and copy it to /boot/extra. I think these files in extra folder loads after all plugins

I have a user that I want to be able to connect to my VPN server but only get access to the internal network and not my external so he keeps his own IP when doing stuff online. How do I configure this for this user alone?

I have another user that needs to be able to access my external network with my IP range so I can not just turn the feature off.

Sorry for the bad explanation.
