Tried to upgrade .key file, lost network connectivity? - RESOLVED

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a pro key and have been having problems since I tried to upgrade.  Everything was working swimmingly before the attempt, so it seems kinda crazy that these issues have cropped up.  I'm not the most knowledgeable with unRAID, so you may have to bear with me.  Here's what I did:

1. Finished copying some files using synctoy

2. Started a parity check, decided it was going to take too long and stopped it.

3. Copied the .key file to the 'config' folder using the network drive

4. Rebooted the system using the web interface

5. It never came back up after rebooting (after letting it sit for ~10 hours), so I hard stopped.

6. Powered back on - no go

7. Hard powered off, removed flash and removed .key file

8. Restarted - no go

I've been pinging it since, but I keep getting "Destination host unreachable."  I tried changing the port on the switch, changing the LAN port (I have 2 on my board) and changing the USB stick location (not sure if it would do anything, but worth a shot, I guess).  The other computer attached to the switch is responding, so I don't think it's that.

Any suggestions/questions/acts of god are welcome.

Thanks!

Jeff

Hook up a monitor to the server and look at what is happening during the boot process!

It seems to be booting just fine.  I got to the 'tower: login'; however, the web interface still wasn't loading.  After I typed root at the login, it seemed to 'catch up' (for lack of a better term) and loaded.  I then pulled the .key into \config on the flashdrive and it again stopped working.  I checked the network.cfg file and none of my settings were there.  I changed the file to the current settings and the web interface still isn't working.

I can see the flash drive in my network, so it seems like it's connecting.

Is there something specific you'd like me to look for?

Thanks!

enter "ps x | grep emhttp"

Attach the syslog. zip it if needed. See SYSTEM LOG in my sig.

Web gui back up this morning and the key seems to be working!  I'm not sure if I trust it just yet.

Result of ps x | grep emhttp:

1212 ?          S1      0:02 /usr/local/sbin/emhttp

2151 pts/0    S+    0:00 grep emhttp

That was with the array off.  I've attached the syslog and I'm running 5rc-11.  Is there something specific I should be looking for in there?

Thanks for the help!

SYSLOG.zip

Yeah.. this looks like a pretty normal boot, followed by a clean stop 10 mins later. Have you cleared out your plugins and packages folders?

dgaschk - workday was pretty busy yesterday; will hopefully update tonight - thanks very much!

whiteatom - nope; am I supposed to do that?  Do I just delete everything in them?  I guess I haven't gotten that far in the tutorials - sorry for the noobness.
