Time Machine Quits Working After a Week or Two
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I'm having TM issues after a flash drive failure. I'm all back up and running, but my TM just gets stuck on "Preparing to back up..." and the bar goes back and forth forever. If I run lsof I can see files in the sparse bundle open, so it's connecting, but it doesn't ever appear to do anything. It's possible a TM backup was running when my flash drive failure took my machine down (it locked up after probably 2 days with a failed flash drive). When you said "never be able to continue backing up", do you mean that daily back up will never happen, or is the sparse bundle locked up and will never work again? Do I need to delete my existing sparse bundle and let TM start from scratch? Thanks whiteatom EDIT: Well, it seems I solved my own problem. Removed the TM disk from MacOS settings and re-added it and it's backing up now! All good.

503 Service Temporarily Unavailable after 6.12.9 update
Yes, that's my PC. Strangely enough - I connected my WireGuard VPN (while still on my home WIFI) and the WebUI works, disconnected, same issue. Away from the house today and it works just fine over VPN. I'll try it again when I get home - but any idea what would trigger this? whiteatom

503 Service Temporarily Unavailable after 6.12.9 update
Hi all, I decided to dive in and upgrade to 6.12.9. Install went fine and the box came back up. SSH, docker and all services are working, but the web GUI is giving me a 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable. I have rebooted the box a few times with no difference. It redirects all links to /login, but I think that's expected behaviour. I'm at a loss - don't know where to start troubleshooting this. Diagnostics attached. Thanks whiteatom knox-diagnostics-20240405-2209.zip

Roger. Updated to a better cooler. I'm a little concerned about RAM clearance - but worst case I return it I suppose.

New build - would appreciate comments
Hi all, Long time unraid/plex user, looking to upgrade for 4k content. Currently running an 11 year old E3-1245 V2 on a Supermicro X9SCL with 15 spinning disks. My intention is to start from scratch on the system hardware, move my disks over and put old drives (smaller) in my existing system for a back-up for most critical data. New machine planned: Case: Fractal Design Define 7 XL + 12 extra trays CPU: Intel Core i5-12500 3 GHz 6-Core Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin Mobo: MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4 RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 HBA: 2 x LSI 9207-8i with breakout cables PSU: Corsair RM850x 850W 2 new 20TB WD Red Pros for new parity drives Want to run 18 spinning disks; 3 SSD for cache pool/app data; an e-sata for external dock. Hoping to manage 4x 4k streams plus a few 1080 clients. Hoping to handle 7-10 simultaneous users (at least half direct stream). Also run the -arr suite, a few home automation dockers, and a few VMs (development testing environments and a print server, no heavy load), would also like some future capacity so this thing can run for another 10 years. Am I limiting myself anywhere? waisting money anywhere? Can I meet my needs with something more power efficient for a 24/7-on server? Appreciate any input you have! Cheers whiteatom

Notification customization
+1 It would also be nice to include the server name in the subject or From. If you run more than once instance, you have no way to tell which box it's from.
-
Push Notifications
Big plus one.. I'm getting browser notifications from my openstack instances and it's a game changer to have desktop level notifications. Seems like this would have to be done through an Limetech API due to the complexities of supporting all browsers, but it's not a huge undertaking to make this part of My Servers.

Server Layout Plugin for unRAID v6
It seems this plugin is being flagged in the 6.11 upgrade assistant as deprecated. Is there are upgrade available or alternative to track where each disk physically is within my case?

Supervisor – Unraid Controller (iOS)
There doesn’t seem to be a way to see parity operations underway. It would be a key admin feature to see the progress of parity checks, parity rebuilds, and pre-clears - can this be added?

[Plugin] CA Appdata Backup / Restore v2
Ok sounds good.. is LT adding a USB backup tool? I think mine is on the way out, (very slow boot), so I'd just like to make sure I have a backup of the data!

[Plugin] CA Appdata Backup / Restore v2
Hi all, I just started using this plugin again, and my first back up ran Monday night. It all seems to have worked, I'm seeing a dated TAR file for the app data as expected, however, my USB back up seems to just be a copy of the data - no TAR and no date-version. Is this expected behaviour? I was expecting TARs for both the "Use Compression: Yes" setting? Thanks, whiteatom

Unassigned Devices - Managing Disk Drives and Remote Shares Outside of The Unraid Array
Hi all, I found a... bug? no potential enhancement in UA. If you are in a mounted drive on the CLI and then unmount the drive in UI through UA, it lets you do it - but it creates a mess. The drive won't properly unmount because it's in use, but there's no error or anything.. The disk shows as unmounted, but the directories are still there in the /mnt/disks/ - obviously accessing them causes an error. A simple mount and unmount fixes it all, but a detection for the drive being in use (similar to how the main array won't unmount if a disk is in use) would be a good improvement.

Preclear plugin
Hi all, Thanks for this great plugin. I noticed something in the logs when I started a new pre-clear... I'm wondering why it thinks this disk (a WD red 6tb) is an SSD. Should I adjust something to do the head stress test that it has disabled? Thanks, whiteatom

(Still NOT Solved) current pending sector is 1on new SSD Cache
I still this issues is still not fixed.. Just got a great deal on an MX500 that i'm using for Plex under UA and I open the unRaid UI to about 20 notices from this drive every time. Looking for the uncheck of smart attributes now.

**VIDEO GUIDE** How to Install MacOS Mojave or High Sierra as a VM
How is an unRaid share exposed to MacOS? I have my iTunes library on the host array, and I know I can share it over the network, but i figured it might be more reliable over through a VM mount. I configured the following in the VM XML. <filesystem type='mount' accessmode='passthrough'> <source dir='/mnt/user/iTunes Library/'/> <target dir='iTunes Library'/> <alias name='fs0'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x01' slot='0x00' function='0x0'/> </filesystem> And I expected this to be mounted as a drive called "iTunes Library" or appear in /Volumes or at least appear in /dev as "fs0", but nothing! What am I missing?

Unassigned Devices - Managing Disk Drives and Remote Shares Outside of The Unraid Array
Ok.. some progress. I reseated all my SATA cables into the back of the hotswap cages and I now get one drive (my download drive, so I'm back), but I'm attempting to put a different drive into copy some stuff off the box (the problem that prompted all this). The remaining problem is that the second drive doesn't work - but I think this is a more general problem, so I'm gonna start a new thread! Thanks for your input.

Unassigned Devices - Managing Disk Drives and Remote Shares Outside of The Unraid Array
Attached. Thanks for looking at this.. I'm not sure what changed that suddenly created this problem. All my other disks are OK, I have at least one working disk on each SATA controller (the mb controller is all OK, my SASLP card has 7 working drives and one that is causing this problem, and my little 2 port SATA card has one drive working in the array, and one not. knox-diagnostics-20170621-1918.zip

Unassigned Devices - Managing Disk Drives and Remote Shares Outside of The Unraid Array
I have... several times. I assume the log you are referring to is the UD log? Any idea why the log would be missing? Is that the correct log path? Do I need to check some permissions or what else might be preventing it from writing a log file?

Unassigned Devices - Managing Disk Drives and Remote Shares Outside of The Unraid Array
Unfortunatly, there's a problem there too.. As I said above, the log file doesn't exist and viewing the log gives me this. /usr/bin/tail: cannot open '/var/log/unassigned.devices.log' for reading: No such file or directory /usr/bin/tail: no files remaining Thoughts? How can I get around that one?

Unassigned Devices - Managing Disk Drives and Remote Shares Outside of The Unraid Array
I rebooted a few days ago (moved my server) and ever since, my download drive for sabnzbd (outside the array mounted with UD) won't mount. I figured the drive might have packed it in (7 year old 500GB drive that has had a hard life). I tried replacing it with another drive i have (known good), but it won't mount either. When I refresh the UD screen, I get the following in the dmesg: udevd[11710]: '/usr/local/emhttp/plugins/unassigned.devices/scripts/rc.unassigned reload >/dev/null 2>&1 & disown' [11735] terminated by signal 7 (Bus error) I searched for this and there is 1 hit, on this thread, but it's just crossed out with no obvious fix. I'd love to show you the UD log, but there's no file there.. /var/log/unassigned.devices.log doesn't exist. I have tried creating the file, but it appears that UD isn't writing there. Can someone help me here? what's next to troubleshoot this?? Edit: I have also tried removing the plugin, deleting any reference to UD I could fine and then reinstalling. Same error. Is this a hardware issue??

What's involved in getting drives mounted with the UD plugin to appear in the Disk Stats page?

[Support] Linuxserver.io - Plex Media Server
Restart the container, that is the only way that is recommended. Nevermind.. that wasn't the issue.. the little tiny "Advanced View" slider that I had not seen. Just flipped it and found the variables and now all is well. Thanks anyway!

[Support] Linuxserver.io - Plex Media Server
I'm also a little confused about how to keep my Plex Media Server up-to-date. It seems every few weeks a new version of the container comes out and it updates to a new version of Plex when I install it, but I can't seem to figure out how to update Plex on it's own. I have seen a few posts about setting the version variable, but I can't seem to figure out how to do that on the Docker page of the webUI - the only thing I can set is Volume Mappings. Could anyone fill me in on what I'm missing? Cheers, whiteatom

Tower cases with 5.25" drive bays top to bottom...
The modifications are very minor and can be made with a c-clamp or even a set of vise-grips.
