October 2, 201312 yr it's still free but the management client is limited as they are moving to web client which is not free but part of the sphere server .
October 2, 201312 yr Does the 5.1 management client work with 5.5? Sent from my mobile There is 5.5 management client. When you run 5.1 client with 5.5 server, it tells you to update it. This updates the client only obviously. Not sure if there is a way to avoid this. but then not sure why you would avoid it When people say they can't change VM Settings via vsphere client or 5.5 doesn't support vsphere client, it really means that it doesn't support VM Version 10. You can edit VM settings all you want using esxi 5.5 server and the client as long as VM Version is 8 or below. Even creating a new VM defaults to VM Version 8. Unless you go through each VM to upgrade them to Version 10, you can use 5.5 just like you did for 5.1
October 7, 201312 yr We updated several dev hosts from 5.0 to 5.5 last week at work and no issues to speak of. Admittedly this was via VUM rather than iso, but should have the same result. Painless upgrade. Sent from my GT-N7105T using Tapatalk 4
October 7, 201312 yr Ended up reverting back to 5.1 PPTP connection doesn't go through using esxi 5.5 and this is actually pretty critical for my use..
October 10, 201312 yr Does 5.5 support Intel 82579LM network controller? I never applied the manual patch to enable it on 5.1.
October 10, 201312 yr Nope and it probably never will, the 82579lm is mostly used in the consumer space, so unless we use custom drivers, we will likely have to put up with not having that NIC available on the x9scm-f boards. Sent from my GT-N7105T using Tapatalk 4
