GoChris
So we should be good to order this card very soon/now then and have it supported? Also, where can I order this from? (I'm in Canada but expect I'll need to order out of the US) Quote Link to comment
smino
Try VMAX in Canada. They have the best prices, even with the shipping. Don't forge to order two cables with it. Once Beta 5 is out and tested, I will let you know. Quote Link to comment
GoChris
Looks like NCIX in Canada will carry it very soon, yay! http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=37999&vpn=AOC-SASLP-MV8&manufacture=Others Quote Link to comment

jdubs
Any U.S. retailers have this card yet? I didn't see it on Newegg or some of the other usual suspects. -Jim Quote Link to comment

I think the cable you quote might be good as well, but I ordered the supermicro cable to avoid any issues. Quote Link to comment

smino
So I just tried my unraid with the lastest beta Beta 5, and no go. Although the Bios see the drive, unRaid does not see it. The Serial number of the Drive used is : Seagate: 6vm04tq6 Here is the syslog. Quote Link to comment
jdubs
Hopefully they will get this card working soon! Seems like a great way to (relatively) cheaply add 8 sata ports. -Jim Quote Link to comment
GoChris
Yes, x2 to hoping this is working soon. I waiting to find what options I'll have to expand before I buy any cards or even a case. Quote Link to comment
cepler
x10,000,000,000. We NEED this card! This HAS to get working in unRAID, PLEASE! I'm almost ready to plunk down my cash! (For hardware AND unRAID) Quote Link to comment
esoteradactyl
Please get this card working!!!! I have the card in hand and I'm waiting patiently Quote Link to comment
cwr
just been reading a thread @ another website; http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1397855 it seems like some of those guys got it working (on the last page) with linux, but the write speeds are TERRIBLE (95KB/s) and seems to be alot of messing around to get it working, but there are instructions. looks like you need to compile a specific module which is on their website as the linux kernel currently doesn't support it. supermicro don't provide any help except saying they only provide drivers for redhat & suse http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1034069470&postcount=189 is probably the most useful post Quote Link to comment
esoteradactyl
Damn, that wasn't what i wanted to see Quote Link to comment
NAS
I love Supermicro and I love the sound of this card. But I think what we need here is patience. The Linux community as a whole will want/demand/need support for this card as the price point and features just fit. aka lets just keep googling until someone other than Tom has done the work or its supported by default in the kernel rather than eat up Toms time for what seems like a bit of a ugly hack this now Quote Link to comment
Guest wolfdv
I agree I would love to see this card supported soon Currently just bought a new Norco 4020 case, and am going to make my first venture into unraid (after using WHS for quite a while) the 2 of these AOC-SASLP-MV8 seems like the perfect cards for me (if they ever get supported) oh the decisions... I either get a pci-x board to support the good ol' Supermicro AOC SAT2-MV8 Pci-X cards now , or wait a bit to get comfirmation and go with the faster AOC SASLP-MV8 pci-e cards. I cant wait; vey excited... looking at building this media server with nothing less than 1.5 and 2TB drives Quote Link to comment
smino
Has anyone tested the card with Beta 6? I just got back from holidays. I might try and test it if I get a chance. Now that summer is here though, it is all about the boat, and wakeboarding/skating. Quote Link to comment
Nyago123
Has anyone tested the card with Beta 6? I just got back from holidays. I might try and test it if I get a chance. It won't work. I haven't tried this card specifically, but the kernel issues with SAS (HDIO_GET_IDENTITY) are still there. Tom was expecting the kernel update would fix this but no such luck. Now that summer is here though, it is all about the boat, and wakeboarding/skating. Sounds like you got your priorities straight to me. Quote Link to comment
smino
Thanks. I will be patient. I am in no rush to add more drives, as I have 16 or so drives right now. The only thing this would do for me is better performance over pci promise cards. Quote Link to comment
GoChris
Is there any progress or update on this card? I just have a couple pci cards, would like to be able to use one pci-e. Is there another pci-e card similarly priced that would work? Quote Link to comment
Marky
I'd also love to know if there has been any progress. Building another unraid server and have all the parts except the controllers as i'd love to use a couple of these boards so waiting on any info before purchasing. Quote Link to comment
hypyke
Is there any progress or update on this card? I just have a couple pci cards, would like to be able to use one pci-e. Is there another pci-e card similarly priced that would work? I thought the real issue was support for the card in the linux kernel was not working well. That would be addressed elsewhere. Once it works reliably then it can be integrated into unraid but not before. Posts here seem to suggest there are still problems - http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1397855&page=15 Quote Link to comment
cwr
has anyone tried this card with one of the newer linux kernels (2.6.31 or 2.6.30)? i don't have one of these cards handy to test (cant get them in .au yet) with or i'd do it myself Quote Link to comment
