So...beta 10 and 10a have been released.  Are you guys testing openelec behind the scenes or has it not started yet?

Testing has been going for over 2 months now on an internal build.  Its been my primary media player at home.

We just updated the VM to 4.2.0 (recently released final version) and so far, so good.

I actually have a plugin for installing, selecting a GPU, sound card, and even USB devices for pass through.  No command line required.

There are a few issues with it, specifically that the plugin control page needs to be worked on a bit, but I am tempted yo upload the whole thing to github and let someone else finish it up for me ;-)

And that isn't the only VM we got either ;-). OpenELEC is nice, but wouldn't steam rock even more?

Hah!  Working on it.  Steam works, but we are working on something really awesome to make it make "more sense" for use on unRAID.  In addition, because its still in beta, they are making lots of changes to it all the time and we want to make sure we have a stable build first ;-)

Jon,

I'm still running unRAID 5.05 in an ESXi 5.5 VM but I am thinking of making the jump to unRAID v6 this weekend.  I am also a 10+ year XBMC user so the ability to run Gotham in a *LINUX* VM (whichhas thus far eluded me...currently running 3 instances in WIN 8.1 VMs) is HUGE!  If you need more help testing, just let me know.

The big testing has been around system stability.  Let me state this for the record:  I have never had OpenELEC crash or otherwise hang, not once, during all my testing over the past two months with running this as a VM.  That's with me also running a large # of containers and other VMs as well.  Didn't want to push anything out to the public that hasn't gone through rigorous testing for stability, but I think we're at a point now where it's stable enough to get out there to the masses.

There are a few more things that need to happen to make this easy enough for me to support you guys where I'm not drowned by constant questions on here of how to set it up.  I have a PLG that does all the heavy lifting, but it needs more work.  Stay tuned...

Stay tuned...

;D

I just now saw this thread, since I've got my other issues resolved now, and am ready to work on getting a windows 7 VM running with GPU passthru, so when you're ready for testers to work with you on this, please let me know.

thanks jonp!

jonp, would you mind to provide an update? I'm happily running TVHeadend as Docker and would like to have a front end at the same machine rather than buying an additional HTPC.

Do you think that it would be possible to get the Beta VM out?
