[Solved] Manually mount a drive?

Featured Replies

Lets assume I formatted my flash drive after having saved a copy of it to the unraid server.

How do I manually mount the drives on the server so I can get my key file and undo the mess I seem to have found myself in?  ::)

Thanks!

Not sure about how to actually do what you want to do, but an alternative would be to pull the cables on all but three data drives and boot with a flash drive setup as a Trial version to get the required info off those three drives.  If its not on those three drives, hook up another 3 drives only and repeat.

Easiest way I can think of would be to download the 5.06 install, and prepare the flash like a new install. Boot the server, assign the drives to the data slots in batches, and start the array. As long as you don't populate the parity slot, there should be no chance of overwriting data. The free version of unraid 5 will allow you to assign a few data drives at a time until you find the one with your backup on it.

Cool, thanks Jonathanm,  The trick was to not assign the parity drive.

I'll have to rebuild my parity, I think, after I'm done now, but at least I am on my way back to unraid glory!

Yup, am rebuilding parity.  Now running on the latest ver 6.

Note to self: I really need to send that email off to Tom about that 2nd flash drive pro key.
