WOW..... I love that price but this makes me nervous. Do you think these would be okay unraid data drives? I don't have anything that large in my array so I would need 2 of them and make one parity. That isn't exactly archiving though is it?

Plenty of users use them already.

I am using one as a parity drive and two as data disks. The data disks I just filled up and they sit there, I have zero worries about those. The parity drive gets a workout, but so far I have no complaints. If you aren't short of SATA ports like I am, then the 5TB Toshibas may be the way to go.

I have 18 possible SATA slots in my server with 10 on board and 8 from an LSI raid card flashed IT mode. I was just worried about the size of this drive, as it would more than double anything I currently have. I kind of want to buy a few and just download the internet....  ;D

Definitely in the too-good-to-pass-up range ... just ordered 2 of them for my Media server  :)

[i already have one in my desktop that I bought the last time they were on sale for this price ... it's working just great.]

"Sorry, we've SOLD OUT of this item at the Surprise Sale price. Please watch for more Surprise Sales in the future."

Back up to $332.98

Not surprising that they sold out -- that is a VERY good price [< $30/TB]

I bought one myself. Would've got two if I had the means. If it works well for me,  I'll buy another one or two around Christmas time and hopefully they'll go back on sale during that time as well.

It's $7 more expensive but still a deal if you missed the first one on the site the OP inserted. I missed the first sale and had to buy from here. Never heard of these guys, but they are a Google trusted seller so I went with it.

AVOID RAKUTEN LIKE THE PLAGUE.

They have credit fraud issues on every person who buys there.

They have been having issues since May 2013 and have never fixed their problem.

Read the slickdeals forums for rakuten fraud.

Ratuken.com used to be Buy.com.  They are quite reputable.

They used to be. They no longer are reputable. They are a den for credit fraud and identity thieves.

Thanks for posting this. I had to pass on the surprise sale since I just scored and received a pair of 7200 RPM 6TB drives.

However, next sale I'm all over these.

Keep on posting them.

Well its too late for me but thanks for the warning. I use a special card for online purchases so if something bad does happen,  it's not linked to my bank. I'll still have to fight to get the money back that gets stolen like anybody else would but at least the damage will be minimal.
