vdtruong
Why can't it be any...*any*... Other brand than Seagates? Quote Link to comment
gulo
Is Seagate really that bad? Looking at amazon/newegg reviews of ANY hard drive there is always an alarmingly high percentage of bad reviews, makes you wonder if it really matters. Quote Link to comment
skyhawk
Best buy has a 5tb external wd for $120. Same price point and better brand imo Quote Link to comment
TUMS
I've had a 4tb seagate desktop drive (ST4000DM000) running as my parity drive for about a year now. It's a good drive. I'd prefer a WD red nas drive but I already had it so i'm going to run it. I might eventually swap it out though for a 6tb red and reuse it as a data drive. Quote Link to comment
RAINMAN
The 5tb Seagate externals run ST5000DM000 inside right? I heard the performance of that drive is garbage. Is that correct or I heard wrong? Quote Link to comment
Superorb
I have at least one Seagate drive and it has been spinning away for a while now without issue. (knock on wood) Many here have Seagates and they're fine. Now, the 3TB Seagates from earlier had a lot of problems and I wouldn't touch those with a stick. I'd love one of those new 8TB shingled Seagate drives. Quote Link to comment
