Beancounter
Just picked one of these up. Great deal for those running lots of VM's. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/OCZ-Intrepid-3700-Series-2TB-SATA-SSD-IT3RSK41ET5H0-1920/201621245210?hash=item2ef1900d1a&_trkparms=5373%3A0%7C5374%3AFeatured Quote Link to comment
ashman70
Somebody must of come across a box of these, OCZ has been out of business for awhile now, I believe they were bought by Toshiba. It doesn't mention anything about warranty on these, do you know what kind of warranty they carry? Not a bad price at all, but I've personally been burned by OCZ SSD drives and won't touch them. Nice find! Quote Link to comment

Beancounter
I did a bit of research before I pulled the trigger. Purchasers are reporting the drives are indeed new and not refurbished (no scuff marks on gold connectors, drives, etc). Toshiba/OCZ are selling the drives as refurbished to get out of their 5 year enterprise warranty. OCZ/Toshiba got out of the Enterprise SSD market space and they are selling excess stock. Newegg gives the following warranty: Warranty Limited Warranty period (parts): 90 days Limited Warranty period (labor): 90 days Return Policies Return for refund within: 30 days Return for replacement within: 30 days This item is covered by Newegg.ca's Standard Return Policy. I'm personally willing to take the chance. If I plug it in and it works... odds are its going to work for the life of the system. If not I return it for refund in 30 days or under warranty for 90 days. There is also the option of paying an extra $65 for a 1 year warranty.... even with the extra warranty its still just $434 for a 2TB SDD thats enterprise grade. (rated at 0.5 DWPD for 5 years... or 1 TB of data per day of writes). IMO this is a no brainer. I'll report back when I receive the drives. There is still a chance they come with a 5 year manufactures warranty. Quote Link to comment
DoeBoye
Thanks for the tip! This is a great deal... Very tempting. I've been playing with the idea of getting a larger SSD cache drive... For those who may not be interested in 2TB, they have the whole range available at discount: 240GB 480GB 960GB The refurb part concerns me, but the enterprise MLC is very tempting... Especially if these parts are new, as per OP. Quote Link to comment

BobPhoenix
FYI. I got the 960 version. IT WAS USED previously. You can barely see it on the traces so they (got 2 of them) was only inserted once. So it probably was put into a server and pulled for sale. Can't tell how long because the smart attributes were cleared - at least most of them. garycase
That is indeed a VERY good price => I recently added a 1TB SSD to my main system for VM storage; and spent slightly more for it than this 2TB unit costs !! A shame they won't ship to the US. ... On the other hand, like one of the other posters, I've been burned by OCZ drives several times, and would be very unlikely to buy another one. I haven't had the time to swap out my 500GB SSD drive pool to these yet but am planing on it this week or next hopefully. Quote Link to comment
