October 29, 20169 yr Please see the following link: I think Amazon DE is making a mistake here... 200 euro for an 8tb drive with 3 years of support seems extremely low... But they state its a price guarantee so take advantage !! https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01LXGAE3P/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
October 29, 20169 yr They have them here in the U.S. as well. https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=seagate+skyhawk+drives&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Aseagate+skyhawk+drives
October 30, 20169 yr They have them here in the U.S. as well. https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=seagate+skyhawk+drives&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Aseagate+skyhawk+drives Yes, but not at the same price point. 197.38 Euro is the equivalent of $216.84 ... well below the $334.99 price on the US site. It does indeed seem the Amazon DE site may have these price lower than they intended.
October 30, 20169 yr These ok to be used for building a nas? Absolutely. These are excellent drives and Seagate specifically notes they are excellent for use in RAID systems with their built-in anti-vibration technology.
October 30, 20169 yr There is some chatter in germany about that offer. I would have gotten some for work, but I could not find out how fast the writes speeds are. They know what data to hide from the customer ,these are SMR drives after all.

October 30, 20169 yr ... these are SMR drives after all. Actually I don't think that's the case. At least the 10TB version is not -- it's a helium-filled, 7-platter PMR drive. I think the 8TB is also a sealed helium unit, but haven't found confirmation of that. Not sure about the smaller units, but I don't think any of them are SMR. The 4TB and larger units all have rotational vibration sensors designed to improve performance in RAID and NAS systems (the smaller units do not).
October 31, 20169 yr Also in the UK at a similar price to Germany... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-ST8000VX0022-Skyhawk-Internal-2000-GB-88-9-mm/dp/B01LXGAE3P SR
October 31, 20169 yr Hmmm debating what to do i was all set to splash out on 10tb hdd drives. But the price point is unbeliveable
October 31, 20169 yr Doubt it, its almost always the top end that get a sort of price promo. But even then its £20-£50 if that
November 1, 20169 yr Wow, when they are going to deliver? I'm thinking to buy 2(I'm from spain and amazon.de send to spain )
November 2, 20169 yr Author They have changed the price... Its now EUR 372,37 Must have been a mistake.. I am wondering what they will do now.. They should deliver...
November 2, 20169 yr Not surprising -- it was clearly too low a price. But I suspect that anyone who ordered at the originally listed price will indeed get their drives. The US price now looks like a "bargain"
November 3, 20169 yr Haha. Just received an email from Amazon. They wrote that they indeed claimed a wrong price for this drive on their homepage and since the drive was on pre-order and because of that the transaction has not yet occurred, they will cancel the order. Fuckers :-)
November 4, 20169 yr Not surprised. Pre-orders or back-orders are NOT the same as actual orders -- where you've already paid for the product. I'm sure if these were actual paid orders Amazon would have simply absorbed the loss and delivered them.
November 4, 20169 yr Author Same here... i am going to dispute this though. Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk
November 4, 20169 yr It'll be interesting to see if they honor their originally advertised price for you. My guess is that if you already paid, they will; if it was just a pre-ordered and they hadn't actually processed a payment for it, they won't.
November 4, 20169 yr Same here... i am going to dispute this though. Let us know what they say. In their mail they wrote that their terms of service state that the purchase is only valid when payment has been processed. Which I guess wasn't the case for any of us since it was a preoder.
