Backing up the OS and all installed plugins/apps/VMs

Featured Replies

Whenever I search for backing up Unraid, I can only ever seem to find info on backing up the data stored in the array (that's the easy part).

How would one go about creating a complete backup of Unraid itself, including plugins, VMs, users, settings, everything?

Ideally something similar to the Windows system image tool that allows you to create a backup with just one or two commands and then restore that backup easily in the case that the server dies.  If it's not that simple, perhaps someone who knows the procedure to follow could do a write-up on the wiki?

Any help appreciated.

I think that the Community Applications program has backup utility included in iit.  See Here:

CA Backup has its own thread:

Yep, exactly what I use to backup my dockers and my Flash stick.

I use Unassigned Devices Plugin along with that and it backs up my stuff to a Portable Drive I have sitting on top of my server. Once in a while I use a NAS device and back up everything across the house so I have a copy not in the same room just in case something happens in my office.

Thanks for the replies, using CA backup and Unassigned Devices works a treat.

with CA Backup you backup the Docker folder but how do you actually backup unraid? just copying the content of the flash?

You can do this in the webUI

Main - Boot Device - Flash - Flash Device Settings - Flash backup

And can I do that even with the array started?
