[6.4.0-rc7a] CentOS 7 does not boot after installation

Featured Replies

Description: CentOS 7 does not boot after installation

How to reproduce:
1. Download CentOS-7-x86_64-Minimal-1611.iso into the shared ISOs folder
2. Create a new VM from the CentOS template
3. Logical CPUs: default
4. OS Install ISO: CentOS-7-x86_64-Minimal-1611.iso
5. Memory: 4096 MB
6. Primary vDisk Location: Auto; Primary vDisk Size: 20G
7. Graphics Card: VNC
8. Create
9. VNC Remote
10. Install using automatic disk configuration & Reboot

Expected results: To be welcomed by the CentOS 7 shell

Actual results: Welcomed by the installation menu of the bootable ISO

Other information:
1. Disconnecting the bootable ISO and rebooting prompts the UEFI Interactive Shell v2.1
2. Connecting the bootable ISO, jumping into the grub console and typing ls returns (hd0) (hd0,msdos2)
3. Windows 10 template works fine

This is unavailable in the GUI. Will try again with a SeaBios config.

Correct, you can not switch types after initial creation.

Might be correct but BIOS options are unavailable in 6.4.0-rc7a. I have the feeling that the bios file is currently missing and not supported.

Can someone share a CentOS SeaBios template?

BIOS selection is only available under advanced view (see top right of the screen).

Thanks for pointing it out, I've missed that option. Up and running now, perhaps the template needs updating?

Do you mean the display of the template under themes gray and azure? This is addressed in the next release.

I mean the CentOS VM template. Shouldn't it be defaulting to SeaBIOS instead of OVMF?

All templates default to OVMF. This used to be SeaBIOS but decision was made to change it to OVMF to better accommodate UEFI. Of course UEFI support really depends on your system itself.

Perhaps the BIOS option should be made visible when NOT in Advanced view?
