September 26, 20178 yr Author Thanks guys. I have a replacement drive on its way. What would be the best way to replace the parity drive cleanly? (still new to unRAID)
September 26, 20178 yr After you have tested the drive (like preclear cycle(s) if testing on unRAID or manufactures app if not) you can normally just add the new drive as parity and start your array. unRAID will begin the build process immediately so that is why you will see a warning on that drive before you start the array telling you all data on the drive will be overwritten.

ATA4 is another Seagate drive. So everything except the mobo has been swapped. Think it can be a faulty mobo? October 3, 20178 yr What power supply do you have? I've had some very weird problems in the past that went away when I replaced the power supply. People often spend a lot of money on disks, RAM and CPU and pay little attention to PSU. I'm not clear whether you tried replacing yours or just the cables.

I've replaced cables, and also which sata ports on the actual PSU it plugs into. It's a EVGA 650 GS (Gold) https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=220-GS-0650-RX Should be good. Problem is I got it for free from a mate so not sure I can do a RMA. I can buy another one tho just to be sure and try. Any favourites here?
October 4, 20178 yr Yes, Seasonic are good. So are some of the ones made by Corsair. I use the AX, HX and RM series (in order of decreasing cost). It's always worth having a spare PSU on the shelf and they are generally cheaper than the spare hard disk that many people keep. One thing to be careful about - if you swap out a modular PSU (unless it's the same model by the same manufacturer) make sure you remove all the cables that came with it and replace them with the ones that came with the new PSU. There is no standard wiring for the plugs at the PSU end of the cables and mixing them up can cause damage. Edited October 4, 20178 yr by John_M Correction: RM series, not RX

New 550W Seasonic FOCUS Plus Platinum ordered, will be here tomorrow. Asus support also came back today to say they dont support Linux so install Windows and test again. Told them its a hardware issue, not based on software, so just waiting to hear back from that too... Oh the joys of PC building.

Swapped out the PSU to a Seasonic Focus and so far haven't seen this error again. TBF I havent really let it run for too long as I've been making a lot of changes.
