jeffreywhunter
I have a problem where my system runs fine for a few days, then suddenly locks up (even the console). Is there a tool that can capture the syslog after a crash? Link to comment

jeffreywhunter
I think I have a memory problem. I've run memtest a couple overnight. When I look in the morning, the screen is blank and the PC is locked up. I've got three banks of 8GB chips. Is there a log somewhere? Or do I just need to test one chip at a time? Link to comment
saarg
No shortcuts there. Remove all except for one and then add one by one until you find the bad one. Might be more than one bad, so test all sticks even if you find a bad one before all is tested. Link to comment

jeffreywhunter
Just in case anyone gets to this post. It appears that the unresponsive GUI/stuck apps can be traced to incompatible versions of apps running on my system. In particular buttons and a couple other apps were incompatible past 6.1. A recent update to Fix Common Problems added a test to incompatible plugins. Once I removed the offending plugins, I've not had any further problems with the server crashing after 24-48 hours. Miss the added features, but appreciate the uptime... Link to comment
jeffreywhunter
As a final follow-up, it appears that my server crashes were connected to a bad path in my proftpd config. More info here: https://lime-technology.com/forums/topic/58855-regular-out-of-memory-problems/ Link to comment
