Source for Turnkey System?

Featured Replies

Are there any recommended companies that provide a fully assembled and tested HW system (possibly minus drives) for those that don't want to tackle hand building one

Thanks

Dudley

None that I know of specifically for unraid, but assuming you know the motherboard being used (and that it is one of the supported ones), you can buy any OS-less server out there (Windows would be fine, but wasted dollars).  Unfortunately, finding a purpose-built box that offers low price and decent quality is not easy.

Perhaps the dying breed, the local PC store, is near you?

For the online stores, look for "barebone" systems, though they won't likely be tested.

I wish Tom would go back and offer fully built systems, perhaps this time offering two levels of quality (the MD-1200 is very high quality, thus expensive) and perhaps can outsource the work to some local high-school kids - hey, they know more than we do!!  If he wants to avoid the headaches (understandable), he could also find such a group and refer us to them.

Lastly, if someone knows of a standard setup offered online, please let us know.

How much are people willing to pay for getting hw, assembly, testing, shipping, support and warranty ?

To me it sounds like a system cannot be built, delivered, paid for, plus misc administrative work, on less than 16 manhours.

I dont think that Tom actually made money on the servers he sold.

The cheapest way to get a server might be to get entry-midlevel servers from IBM, HP, Dell og Fujitsu Siemens. But the hardware is then probably not on the known-to-work list.

There will be a new pre-assembled server appearing on our website soon.

Attached are some photos.  The same chassis can be configured as tower or rack mount.

Sounds good.  I'll await the details.

Looks nice.  Mind letting us in on the make/model of the case?

;D

And can you attach larger photos to view? Don't have to be inset, but the jpg link is the same size as the one imbedded in the post. just asking  :D

Will you be selling the bare case too or just complete systems?  I would love to see some more/bigger pics.

Is that another hardrive on the side ?

Cause I see 13 bays,and I know unRAID pro support 14 disks.

If it's not an extra bay that we see in white, would it be possible to use in the top multibay the 5 disks version instayd of the 4 disks version (it looks like icy dock stuff) which will then give 14 disks in tray.

Tom -

I wanted to ask if you have further information about your pre-assembled server offering such as features, price, and when it will be available.

Thanks

The case is an AOpen H800A.  I have a friend at AOpen who gave us a good deal on a pallet of these.  The unit pictured has 3x 3-in-2, plus 1x 4-in-3 for a total of 13 sata drives.

However I am not happy with this configuration and instead we are going to offer 3x 5-in-3 for 15 drives, plus an eSATA connector to support a grand total of 16 drives!  Unit goes out soon for photos & will be available for probably around $1300.  This case has a rackmount option.

We're also considering offering the same disk configuration in a Lian-Li PC-A16B case.

Figures, I JUST now boouhgt one of the Stacker cases! From the looks of those cases though they can only handle one P/S - have you found one good enough to run all 16 drives?
