Zonediver
The day before yesterday happened with my 8TB WD-RED. The disc was marked with a red X. Subsequent extensive tests showed no errors. After re-integration in unraid it works flawlessly - strange... The only thing I could tell was a strange sound from the disk when the server went to sleep. But after the reinstallation that was gone - no errors - also no CRC- or spinup-errors. Maybe a "halloween-bug" 🤣 EDIT: I forgot to mention that the related disk was connected to an ASMedia 1061 2port-SATA controller (onboard). Now its connected to the intel onboard controller. Writes can fail for all sorts of reasons, and in fact real problems with a drive are only a small proportion. External factors such as SATA/Power cabling, RAM, or evening vibration can cause this and are far more likely. Edited October 20, 2019 by itimpi Quote Link to comment

Some disk make this "noise" when they switched off (removed the power from the drive). Strange was, that the disk was already at standby and not spinning anymore...
