February 19, 20206 yr I have only been using unRAID for about 4 months but I am so glad I went with it instead of freenas. I did have a qnap 451+ but to me unRAID offers so much more use and flexibility. I started off with an intel 6700k system and to be honest it would still be a super decent system but i got the build bug so here we are now. OS Current: 6.8.2 CPU: AMD Ryzen 3900x Heatsink: The prism air cooler that came with it that does the job Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus X570 Master RAM: 32GB Crucial 4 x 8gb 2666MHz Case: Corsair Vengeance C70 (Black) Power Supply: EVGA 850 G3 GPU: ASUS GeForce GT710 2GB GDDR5 (Just for accessing the bios etc) Drive Controller: Dell Perc H310 SATA / SAS HBA Controller (running 8 drives including the cache) NVME Controller: Asus Hyper M.2 x16 Card V2 (4 x 1TB Crucial CT1000P) Cache: 1TB (2 x Samsung 860 EVO'S) Drives: 1 x 8TB, 2 x 6TB, 4 x 4TB, 1 x 3TB, 1 x 1TB SSD I don't run a parity drive as I have a backup which is my old QNAP 451+ which is running unRAID as well. It has 4 x 10TB's in it. Edited February 19, 20206 yr by JaseNZ

March 7, 20206 yr ehm why do you have nvme drivers in your array? and why is your cache raid0? I would toss a parity drive in there if I were you. I know you said you have backup, but still
May 9, 20206 yr Author No same amount of cache its just all the ssd'd are just in the back part of the case. I dropped a couple of smaller drives that I did not need and to keep things nice and clean.
May 30, 20206 yr Two questions I have a qnap 451 as well. how did u move the data over? how do u configure it to act as a backup?

Mounted the qnap share in unassigned devices and then used Krusader to copy what I wanted over. Then used Syncthing to keep things synced in realtime. I should note my Qnap is running unraid as well. The current airflow will suck air from any gap & will leak more dust into the case. Edited June 11, 20206 yr by PSYCHOPATHiO

I have actually done this, the other photo was just after I had built it and did not have a spare fan sitting around. I have since added this fan in. Sorry for the red I must turn it all off in the bios lol.
