January 11, 201115 yr What? As best as I can figure out, you are asking if an Intel CPU will work in an AMD motherboard. The answer is no.
January 11, 201115 yr No, I think the question is whether one of the new, second generation, Core i systems (with Socket 1155 cpu) will run unRAID. I suspect that the answer will be yes, but until someone actually tries it ......
January 12, 201115 yr Well, I just tried with an ASUS P8P67 Pro and i7-2600K with my spare unRAID flash drive and I couldn't even get to boot from the USB. Ill try building a new flash drive and see how it goes.

January 12, 201115 yr Well, I just tried with an ASUS P8P67 Pro and i7-2600K with my spare unRAID flash drive and I couldn't even get to boot from the USB. Hmmm .. is that because you weren't able to configure it to boot from usb, or it tried to boot, loading the images, and then failed?
January 12, 201115 yr It would never attempt to boot from my second unRAID drive. I put in my Acronis USB and it booted just fine. I wonder if my unRAID drive has gone bad. Ill try loading a fresh USB key tonight and seeing what it does.
January 12, 201115 yr Well, I formatted a new flash drive and it boots. However, 4.6 doesn't seem to support the Intel NIC on my board.
January 12, 201115 yr Well, I formatted a new flash drive and it boots. However, 4.6 doesn't seem to support the Intel NIC on my board. Send an email off to LimeTech with a note about the NIC on the board not working. There may be an updated Intel driver out there that can be included in the next version.
January 12, 201115 yr And the new NICs might be supported in the 5.0 beta 3 series as it includes a new Slackware distro base and a new Linux Kernel base.

February 1, 201115 yr Well, with 5.0-beta3, my Asus P8P67 Pro w/ i7-2600k works just fine. syslog_P8P67.zip
February 1, 201115 yr Except for the fact that Intel is calling up that massive recall :'( Its not really that big of a deal. It happens in every industry. Im sure ASUS will replace my board as soon as there is a fix.
